Wow -- where to start? Basic details first, I guess. My husband David and I have been married 24 years and have two fantastic children, Sarah Elizabeth, 15, and David, 9. We live in fabulous, historic Fernandina Beach. We moved here from Atlanta just in time to put up with all of these Gators and their big wins -- ugh! Of course, living as a Georgia Bulldog anywhere is a GREAT thing. We lived in Atlanta for 20 years after graduating from Gods' university, the University of Georgia. When we moved, our goal was to renovate our beach house and live on the ocean, but beach roads tend to be too busy for young children and pets, as we learned the hard way. So we opted for the next best thing -- we kept the beach house to host friends and family and bought a house near the historic lighthouse. What a wonderful place! I started my career in newspapers at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, then moved into public relations. I have spent more than 20 years in public relations, with terrific clients and products and businesses. My husband David is an MAI, a designated commercial real estate appraiser. he game late last summer, made the golf team two weeks later, then finished 6th in the district. Ironically, Leon High School beat everyone here in the regionals but FBHS made a very good showing with no seniors on the team. Our area has grown so much that a new high school opened this year off-island, so many of the sports teams have been split. Sound familiar? The only difference from Lincoln's opening during our years is that seniors through freshman opened the new Yulee High School, so they had a good base of academics and sports from the beginning. Sarah Elizabeth also was tapped into Little Women, the only "service club" here. It is sponsored by the Woman's Club. David the son is a precious, mischievous third grader who is in his first year at public school after attending Amelia Island Montessori for 5 years. He has taken to it well. He plays Pop Warner football and Babe Ruth baseball, loves the beach, digging in sand and being a boy extraordinaire. In truth, it was at the 20th Leon reunion that Lisa Schomburger convinced me that I was not too old for another child and one child was never enough. Yet another reason to miss her and her beauty as a person. I'll save more for later as I think of it. I'm sure Sarah Elizabeth, who is an excellent writer, will want to add some as well.
