My journey in martial arts continued after high school including to the present. My desire to excel in some sport led me to Taekwon-Do in the early 70's and has evolved throughout my life. Some twenty years later, I met the founder of Taekwon-Do, Choi Hong Hi. With his mentoring and support in my training, I was able to reach the highest level attainable in Taekwon-Do, 9th Degree Black belt. Taekwon-Do is not just a sport or self-defense; it is a complete discipline for body, mind and spirit. I can truly say that had Taekwon-Do not been in my life, I would most likely not be here today. The physical strength training kept me healthy. The mental discipline kept me sane, and the spiritual development drove my purpose. I am therefore, a product of my preteen aspirations. A dream that I had to participate in a sport without being put on the bench and told I didn't have enough talent to play. I left Wisconsin behind me and traveled the world. I have but only a few regrets however, my new life and family far outweigh the limitations I had in Marshfield. I miss many of my friends back there and I think about them always.
