Len's Story

Life Hello Mates! It's been a lotta years now and I've lost count so I'm inspired to write the latest in my life for those who may have been a friend to me back then. I've moved with my Wife into a newly built home in Castle Rock in Feb 2004. About 1 year after the wedding now I'm finally able to get the basement finished this Summer and have some play space in my home, so no pets, no distractions, just me, myself & I. Actually in the past year I've visited the in-law twice in Maine and went on a cruise in-between which was pretty nice for me but not the Mrs. as she ate some bad meat 2 days into the trip. I'd think twice about doing a cruise again. The neighborhood here in Castle Rock is growing fiercely and my subdivision should be complete at the end of 2005. I'm actually growing a pretty decent crop this year of tomatoes, corn, peppers and perhaps a melon or two. We have a "stamp" lot not 15 feet from the houses adjacent to us and had to make do with planter boxes. It's nice to worry about crops than grades in my opinion. I've also been keeping very busy working, attending a weekly Bible study through our church we were married and look after infants some weeks. I'm also trying to get in some golf on the Weekends (I was always hitting out of the sand trap in the yearbook. I've lost the glasses but not much else has changed & I like the beach anyways), watching movies, sports and that darned History channel of course (better than being hooked on Video games I say), and enjoying the peace and serenity that naturally comes with a construction site, such as 4am drop-off's of Skid Loaders and hammering at 6:30am Saturday mornings. My kids are my pets and the oldest being Ziggy, our Retriever, who is 11 or 12 this year and lives to play ball and play tug of war with any of his toys as most dogs do, had 3 teeth pulled recently. That costs $500. Who knows maybe Lasek will come out...Expand for more
with a procedure to fix cataracts on pets. We also have cats, fish and a horse we board not far from our residence. I've been taking life pretty slow in-between a steady schedule with my job at The Denver Newspaper Agency. I've said that my days in High School were called the "best days of my life" at some point by somebody significant yet I can’t remember who said that. I hope I connected with some people where nothing much really turned out the way they planned back then either; oh well it’s the ride that counts now. The world is much harsher being independent and even thought I wouldn't go back and do H.S. again, sometimes I wish I was back just for a day for one memory or another. If I knew then what I know now, I might have had better grades or not have been so aloof but I'm essentially the same. But then again, my favorite Grade was probably Senior year, close to graduation. The school system was just good enough to figure one's place and how to study just enough and work the system just right and whammy!.. I started over in College and again in the real world, graduated and grown into my mid-30's. It's a nice ride in my 30's. If some of you have Sirius from Dish Network, I recommend the Vacation Music Channel. I recommend cranking the volume way, way up and actually celebrate the responsibilities now that make us feel alive as mature people and laugh in the face of pain or worry that we didn't have back in High School either. Ever wonder which Students back then grew into Teacher positions in High School? I do. The actor Dennis Hopper once said in character for the movie Flashback, "Once we get out of the 80's, the 90's are going to make the 60's look like the 50's." I think it could have been that way for some, but for most that were a friend to me, I know now that most seem to be OK which is very nice to find out on this site. Until next time, God speed eh?
