Leo's Story
Unlike previous decades of our lives, these 'fiftysomething' years seem to really make us aware that we aren't kids anymore. Things that I used to hear the 'older' generation discuss now are more easily understood. For example, instead of 'coming and going,' various aches and pains now often seem to come and just stay--chuckle! So far they haven't been serious enough in my own case to keep me off a sailboard--aka windsurfer--and that remains one of the biggest 'thrills' in my life--lol!-- and continues to make me look forward to summer. Meanwhile, I may still try to slide down a snowy mountain--hopefully on two skis without wrecking my knees or hitting any trees. Despite it supposedly being 'safer' in terms of those crucial ligaments, snowboarding is too hard on the rest of one's body to make me want to try that anymore! d see that they more regularly include folks now in our own generation. We probably will be having more 'reunions' at funerals than we would prefer. The years can cause us to forget how our adolescence coincided with some very tumultuous and certainly much different times as Tom Brokaw's book BOOM describes. In view of all that, we probably have done pretty well after all. Unlike maybe a decade or so ago when all the new technology seemed to make 'experience' more of a liability than an asset, our lives now hopefully are now a bit more meaningful and secure. Nevertheless, we likely will never be content and will always consider ourselves a bit special, and hopefully we actually are--smile!
