MASTER SERGEANT ATKINS
Master sergeant Atkins was born July 16, 1960 in Farmington Hills Michigan where he attended and graduated from North Farmington high school on June, 1978. In January of 1979 master sergeant Atkins joined the Marine Corps and reported to 3rd Battalion San Diego California, and in April, moved onto his MOS Training at the Infantry Training School, Camp Pendleton California. Upon Completion of his MOS training as a 0331 Machine Gunner master sergeant reported for duty at Marine Barracks Sand Diego California from June 1979 through July 1980. In July 1980 through October 1989 had severed with Lima and Weapons Company 3/5 Camp Pendleton California. Upon completion of his duties with 3/5 master sergeant Atkins was assign too School of Infantry for the Development of the Marine Combat Training Battalion from November 1989 to November 1990. Master sergeant Atkins was then assign as platoon sergeant for Weapons Company 2/5 from November 1990 to October 1995. Master sergeant Atkins was then again transferred in October 1995 and reported to Parris Island, South Carolina for the Development of Marine Combat Training Company for Female Marine and, the development of the new recruit program known as the Crucible Training program. His service there included billets as a company gunnery sergeant, chief instructor for Weapon Training Battalion. In November 1999 received orders to 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine as Weapons Company operation chief till August 2002 was re assign to 6th Marine Regiment as the assistant Operation chief and, Operation chief and In 2004 was assign to Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa as the Operation chief. Master sergeant Atkins return to 6Th Marine Regiment and in October 2005 Where he was assign to Advance Infantry Training Company School of Infantry as primary instructor with New Infantry Operation Chief Course while there served as Operation Chief for Advance Infantry Training Company. Master sergeant Atkins awards include the Sea Service Deployment Ribbons (9), Joint Service Commendation Medal (1), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4), Combat Action Ribbon (1), Joint Meritorious Unit Award (3), Navy Commendation Award (2), Meritorious Unit Citation (3), Good Conduct Medal (8), Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal (2), National Defense Service Medal (2), Arm Forces Expeditionary Medal (2), Humanitarian Service Medal (2), Kosovo Campaign Medal (1), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary (1), War on Terrorism Service Medal (1). Master sergeant Atkins is married to lovely wife, Tami D. Atkins. They have four children, Jennie Lynn (29), Nichole Nadine (24), Jeremy David (22), Daniel Charles (19). The Atkins Family plans on reside in Maysview area after retirement.
