Leonard's Story

Life As of March 25th, 2001, I hit 40. It feels strange in a way. When I was a kid 40 was considered old -- but I'm still doing back handsprings and teaching martial arts! I sometimes miss the old Tech days. Doing shows, singing on stage, talking and laughing with friends, and believe it or not, I miss some of the teachers, too. I sincerely enjoyed the Class of '80 Reunion held in Boston in 2000! Not only did I get to see old friends again, but I made a few new ones. UPDATE: In July of 2004, I was invited to perform with the Shaolin monks at the International Master's Demonstration held in New Jersey. How could I refuse?! The show was great! The Chinese Consolate and monks representing the Shaolin temples in China were in attendance. How can I top this? Well a close second is my being inducted into the World Martial Arts Federation Hall of Fame as Master Instructor of the Year! The event date was October 16, 2004. I would love to hear from my Class of '80 Tech-mates. Never too busy to reply. This includes any of my teachers. They were practically 2nd parents. UPDATE: Okay, now we're in August of 2006. Haven't heard from too many of my former T-buddies. But it was good to hear from the few. I saw Theresa Elow recently. Both our daughters were performing in an Alvin Ailey production. They were both excellent, of course. It was so good to see Theresa! I have also corresponded with Mr. (Phillip) Hughes, Barbara Ragland, and Nadine Thomas. Come on people! Can't we all just get together and have a Big Ole Tech BBQ or something before we reach 100! ... :) UPDATE: I can now add Barbara Ragland, Calvin Wong, Chris King, Thomasina Thomas, and Eddie Powell to the list of tech-mates I've had the pleasure of speaking to this past Summer of 2007. I have also returned to the martial arts tournament circuit ... and having a ball! My daughters are now old enough to be call my best friends, and belie...Expand for more
ve it or not, I love my job. I sincerely hope that all of you are enjoying life as well as I am. Good times or bad... I know I have been blessed. Take care, Lee (Lenny to some of you)\ UPDATE: 8/12/08 - Boy! Do I have something to tell ... I will fill in the rest later. Life is good and God is great!! UPDATE: 5/3/09 - Sorry not ready to divulge news of 8/12/08, but, I can say that I am in a good place in my life. I'm still corporate, but I act and now direct stage performances as well. In fact, on May 7th, 8th and 9th - 7pm - at the Lila Frederick Middle School (260 Columbis Road, Dorchester, MA), my theater group is presenting "The Harlem Renaissance." Well, this year, I am allowing myself one small role. I just joined a new martial school as well. Very traditional Shaolin Kung Fu. After 37 years of practice, boy am I getting my butt wooped. But, I love it. I'm 48 now and still keeping up with the young 30-somethings and teenies. My youngest daughter Siera (15) is going to China with her school! She is speaking and writing chinese. I'm so proud of her. Well, have to go now. Will catch up you all later. Hopefully, my next update will be sooner. God bless. Lee (Lenny) Class of '80. UPDATE: 7/10/11 - Several successful stage productions in my director's portfolio. Received standing ovations for most recent shows. To me, directing stage productions is instinctive. Nature's logic. So much more to say. So little time at the moment. Would like to hear from others of my generation. Just turned 50 this past March 2011. Feels no different than 35. Still very active in martial arts. 38 years now and still a baby. Studying with Shaolin in NY. I love Yi Jin Jing and Ba Duan Jin. I'm back in the student mode, and loving it. You never really stop learning about your own latent abilities. I thank God for such opportunities. Be back soon to tell more. Lee (Lenny) Class of 80
