Father died 2nd week I was on the job of an embolism and I returned to Hialeah before the wife's parents burned down the house we owned where they lived. It was too much for two old people to care for alone. Went to work for Postal Workers Union. Gave untold grief anxiety and alcoholism to all that crossed my path in the past when i was a postal clerk there. miami changed postmasters 4 times after that one retired on disability. . Also did the APWU UNION press conferences was on every TV station at least twice front page Herald and Miami News above the line Congressional Hearings inquiry and visits held and at the federal Offices of NLRB they had a designated office and designated file clip board at the NLRB for the countless charges I personally filed as a union rep against the PO..Also Increased EEOC to 5 hearing officers from two. Won the largest back pay awards in the USPS entire So District for 5 years out of 6. Did Post Office Unemployment cases which were legendary and took all day. I Had state Subpoena Powers and except when the claimant was on occasion arrested at the hearing by the Postal Inspection Service I won nearly all of them. The USPS even hired private legendary law firm counsel to beat me. Won it in 5 minutes with a case law decision and summery judgement .Thought the really hot and embarrassed private atty a Sr letterhead Partner was going to shoot me when he reached into his inside jacket pocklet Instead he gave his card to me and invited me to become a named partner in this very large well known firm as soon as I had a Bar License. Then went to work at a private school and taught for two years until layoff. Hired at the state of Fla Dept of Labor job service office in the same shopping center got my own office and secretary Job ended state froze all new hires and Eastern folded. then followed about 1 year later with PAN American ALONG WITH LOTS OF OTHERS Got a call report for interview at Fla First Dislocated Workers Center in old Cordis Building. Hired before I got there. What fun eventually I was promoted to be in charge of classes on Resumes and interviews First of its kind ever in Flat Then we had Andrew Aug 92, and that allowed me to set state all tine record for most new job listings by a single employee and placements . SBA and Fema called me with thousands of jobs at good $ The place was swamped the next day could not find a parking space One I developed just had my name on it and I got promoted again 7 pay grades and a state shared car. DCA Eng II was the last honest full 40 hr week job I have worked or been able to work. Now I am retired and really active in 504 ADA secion II Handicapped Accommodation Violations of ADA and u s civil rights laws with state and local governments county and city. Also advocate clean water act NPDES ms4 water pollution issues of which there are countless and i held a professional registration. I was a Registered Environmental Manager by exam when I was DCA and learned the tricks as a State DCA Engineering Inspector and Trouble shooter.
