Leroy's Story
I was married to the late Bobbie Jean Tyson of Wilson County, North Carolina. We have three children, Roy, Gregory and Tonia.
I was born and reared in the city of Wilson, North Carolina, and I graduated from Charles Henry Darden High School.
I was determined to succeed, so I joint the United States Air Force and served four years on active duty as a Fabric, Rubber and Leather Product repairmen and a part time
Draftsman at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, Commercial Artist and Cartoonist while in the USAF.
Determine to succeed. I attended Wilson Technical Community College, Wilson North Carolina, John Tyler Community College Richmond, Virginia and Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia. I received two degrees. My first degree is in Mechanical Drafting and Design Technology and my second degree is in Manufacturing Engineering Technology. My most recent education experience, I was attending The University of Phoenix majoring in (BSBM) Business Management.
I retired from Siemens VDO Automotive as an Automotive Mechanical Designer. The past Thirty-seven years I held the positions as a Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical Designer in various industries. I was a self-motivated team player working closely with project and manufacturing personnel to design and develop new and improved automotive products that will provide a higher quality of service and improve profitability for the automotive industry.
I was appointed by three Mayors to service on the board of The Office of Human Affairs and represent the city.

2017 in Hampton, Virginia. Leroy Barnes loves volunteering.
He’s done it most of his life and even today enjoys meeting
people at various organizations where he volunteers
to donates his time. He has volunteered at more than a dozen
organizations since moving to Hampton, Virginia in 1971.
Leroy is the son of Mother Pauline Barnes Hinnant of Wilson,
North Carolina.
