Les's Story
I have just joined as a Gold member and can actually do things and see more information now. So this is a brief update for now.
I have been living in the DC area (Maryland, Virginia, and DC) since returning from college days in 1973. I have been continually in Northwest DC itself since 1987. Not far from the Zoo, where I have been volunteering for the last 13 years. That is a prime focus and exceptionally rewarding.
After various jobs prior to 1983, I have worked as a technical editor and writer since then for TRW, which was swallowed up by Northrop Grumman about 2003 or so. Most of those years I worked in Virignia, but since 1999 it has been New Carrollton. So I am back in PG County for work.
Not married, no children, but have had plenty of good connections with friends' kids over the years and through my Zoo work. I do have a couple of birds and a lizard as roommates.

tivities in the city and the burbs. Much outdoor and nature activities, hiking, birding, searching for other critters, all the museums, specialty beer bars, and baseball games (in the past five years, at least). Lots of friends to do things with.
A dedicated Metro user, generally using a car only on weekends, if then. I even went a few years without one. It can be done if you live in town.
I have done a great deal of travel in the US. I have spent at least one night in every state except Alaska. Travel focus is usually outdoors, nature, hiking, exploring, seeing scattered friends, history, baseball, and new beers! A bit of foreign travel.
I am still in touch with a few old classmates whom I see from time to time. I have stayed quite close to a few of them over the years.
That's enough for now. I need to figure out how all this stuff works! Hope to see some people at the rendezvous at Rick Pell's place next month.
