Lesley's Story
Life
I've been married since 1994 to Ret. Staff Sergeant Cord Alan Echols (U.S. Army). We have an 11-year old daughter named Hayley Grace and my husband, daughter, and I are a host family for international students each year for the last 5 years. The students come live with us for a year and we share so much culturally. We have hosted the brightest and nicest high school girls from Germany, Norway, Italy, 3 from Thailand and now this year we are hosting 2 in one year. One from Seoul, S. Korea and one again from Thailand. We have joined up annually with a national foreign exchange student program that allows us to welcome new cultures into our home and gives our little girl a chance to have a big sister for a year. Profession: I work as an Office Manager and Budget Anaylst for the government in Arizona. Upon my husband's 20 year retirement the Summer of 2000 we are permanantly residing in Southern AZ. My husband is now a Senior Software Testing Engineer. Prior to my marriage I was single until age 27 and a Computer Graphics Designer & Graphics Dept Manager for several years in Rochester after having attended 2+ years of college. sfered from Fort Drum, NY to Fort Huachuca, Arizona. What wonderful climate (the best). My husband has seen the world. I have seen all the states between NY and AZ as we traveled for 2 weeks across country in 1997. Now I enjoy spending any free time with my husband, our daughters, and our two dogs. In Arizona it's almost a must to have a pool to survive the heat so I find swimming is a great way to enjoy some free time. I have a simple but very happy life. Since arriving in AZ in mid-1997 we've now built 2 homes and just love living on a bunch of land nestled at the foot of the Huachuca Mountains amongst nature. I truly hope that all of the class of '85 have found their true happiness. I welcome e-mails from classmates.
Workplace
I have gone from a Computer Graphics Designer in Rochester to an Office Manager and Budget Anaylst for the federal government in Arizona. I love working for the military. I'm fortunate enough to work sort of with my husband. Since his 20+ year retirement a few years ago from the US Army he's joined me at work as a Sr. Software Engineer and works just buildings away. This job and wonderful husband and his entire military family has given me the greatest appreciation for the government and military. I've learned so much in the last several years.
