Leslie's Story
Life
This October I will be celebrating my 25th Anniversary to my husband Pete. We have one son, Matthew, 36yrs, (where does the time go) who is a Firefighter in San Mateo,CA. He has three children, 2 daughters and one son. They are a lot of fun for me but it sure is nice to send them home too. I retired in 2000 as an Adminstrative Assistant to the Fire Chief of South County Fire here in the town where I live after 17yrs with the City of San Carlos. I am currently volunteering at our local library and run the library book shop. (So much for retirement). I have a 15yr old Border Collie named Ellie Mae who goes everywhere with me. College
After high school, I spent a year at Long Beach State. Not sure what I wanted to do with a college degree, I joined American Airlines in 1967 as a flight attendent. After a year with American, I married in 1968. In those days you couldn't be married and fly so I left the airlines to become a mom. I had my first son in 1969 and my second son in 1972. I started back to college at the College of San Mateo in 1974 and in 1992 I finally graduated with an AA in liberal arts. (They keep changing the requirements so you have to keep taking more classes.) It was actually fun having my two sons at my graduation. Thought I'd never do it!!
