Leslie's Story
i came to deerlodge in the summer of our jr yr. our family moved from polson and my dad logged for fred fike and my mom{an rn} worked at the hospital. i was really scared because polson was very clicky and mostly uppity, but the girls were great in the 1974 class and welcomed me into a big bunch of them. the boys were boys. by the end of 74, in sept david fike & i were married. we had to work at many jobs over the years trying to keep our family of 5 afloat. the marriage made it 19 yrs but we had our 3 great kids at the end of it and now have 7 wonderful grandkids that make us all happy! owers i ever wanted! we also have chickens and give out eggs to all the neighbors that have to listen to our rooster. my husband was a millwright for 30yrs, is a viet nam vt and is now the maintenceman for the school district. i am the janitor for the high school and have been there 5 yrs. ed has 1 daughter and thankfully all our kids decided to blend peacefully and are very close. all in all we are very happy, settled and involved in the community. i am the president of the public county library board and it keeps me hopping. we are remodeling our kitchen and that keeps me varnishing!
we hope to retire and see some of the u.s. in a 5th wheel, and take along bear, our adopted-from-the-son,dog.
