Leslie's Story
I have been teaching in California and Washington ever since 1985. Mostly Special Ed... I have had K-6 Special Day Classes most of the time. Some have had 25 kids with my aide and I but we get things done.
My biggest victory has been surviving death twice. In 1993 they thought I had MS but when I went for a second opinion they did and MRI and found a grapefruit sized cyst in the left part or my brain. The neurosurgeon was quite surprised I was walking, talking and had a job. Anyway after they tried two textbook procedures which gave me meningitis twice they did my guinea pig experiment and put a port in the side of my head. fluid so I don't have a headache for about a week...then I deal till I can't stand it anymore. I wish they could take it out but it has its own nerves and blood supply.
I now know take life one day at a time and go for things. I have been working at a racetrack for the past few years as the photographer and PR person. I also have my Mustangs. I used to have five but had to cut down because of the repair costs. I was stealing parts off one to fix another so I keep two running now. I am hoping to race the Okie Bowl Hardtops this next year. I got to race school buses and a friend's car before. I travel more and take time for me on things I kept saying that I can do when I retire...I have learned tomorrow may not be there...
Boring story I know
