Leslie's Story
I am still working in engineering. I am a consultant to the orthopaedic industry and I work in standards related to orthopaedics. I recently got back from an international standards meeting in Berlin. Afterward my wife and I visited with a friend and his wife in Winterthur Switzerland before going to Milan for the Milan Expo. After that we went to Nice and ended up in Paris again.
I am still working part time. Doing some failure analysis, which has always been my passion. Lately, I have done some non-orthopedic work on the failure of springs. From small ones in cabinet door hinges to large ones big enough to be in an automobile suspension. It is a challenge to look at simple steel alloys., instead ...Expand for more

I am still working in standards. The domestic standards meeting was in Toronto in may. Toronto has always been one of my favorite cities. Last year my international meeting was in Sydney Australia. The last time I was there was in 2001. I was stranded there for three days because of 9/11. There are worse places to be stranded in. I took a couple of extra days so I could look around again. This year I will be going to Japan. The meeting is in Nagoya, but on the way back I will spend a couple of days in Tokyo on the way home. A friend who lived in Japan for several years is going to show me the ropes until he catches a plane home late the first day.
