Liana's Story
Gosh, I don't even know where to start. After high school, my parents moved to Saudi Arabia. I stayed home and took care of their home and finances while working at Guarantee Savings and going to Jr. College. Our family got to travel around the world because of my dad's job, so I feel so blessed to have been able to do that. Doug and I broke up for about 1 year during that time, I think to just make sure we really wanted each other forever. Then we were engaged for 1 year and married in 85. We traveled/moved alot as he became an officer and pilot with the Calif. Air National Guard. In 97' he was hired by United Airlines, then went on a military leave of absence from there after 9-11-01. He has been on leave since but needs to go back in 3-09.
We started our family almost 5 years after we married with the birth of our 1st child, Lorin. Our first son, Brian, was born 1 1/2 years later, then Joshua in 95 and our last, Anna, in 2000. We've done just about all sports, had all musical instruments, many pets- a zoo at times, lots of kid's friends around, broken bones, life-threatening illnesses, joys and sorrows. They are 22, 21, 17, and 11 respectively now. College down to 6th grade - all stages of life - it keeps me plenty busy and gray!
As for me personally, I worked until we started having children as an Auditor for the bank then my children became my full-time job and my ministry. Whose life do you touch more than your children? I did the vo...Expand for more
lunteer route with my church and various organizations in Fresno and of course volunteering at school -On the Parent/Teacher Board, Room Mom, Fundraising etc. . . led Bible Studies and most of the time chaufeured! We have taken trips to Argentina, Hawaii, the Carribean, Alaska, Canada, many states, and alot of time in New York as some of our dearest friends are from there. I've gained weight, lost weight and gained it back, skydived, swam with manta rays, given my testimony in front of 800 people, lossed loved ones, had pain in this life, but much joy. Kellie Merry (Morningstar) and I are still best friends and talk at least once a month. Her husband(Brian), Kellie, Doug, and I have been on vacation together and our kids are all great friends. A friendship that has lasted over 30 years - not bad!!
I would say it's been a typical life. Ups and downs, a few twists and turns, but all worth living through. My goal now is to start some business - still have many ideas but haven't nailed one down, do a bike tour in Europe, climb half-dome in Yosemite, keep my sanity as I have 3 teens now, keep my monthly margarita night with my girlfriends, learn to ballroom dance, and grow old gracefully with Doug by my side.
I guess as I get into my late 40's I'm going over my life so far and remembering old friends. I would love to hear from any of you and just see how life has been going for you, so. . .if you're interested please send me a note.
Blessings!
