Liisa Lyon:  

Life I studied a year at Antelope Valley JC, a year at Sonoma State then joined the Army where I served in South Korea for a year, and Fort Lewis Washington for 1.5 years. I worked as an Army Photographer at Camp Henry, a small post in Tague. I was pretty surprised to run into my former PHS classmate, Sam Santacroce, at the Post Exchange. I spent my weekends touring the National Parks and landmarks of South Korea with my landlord’s family; the Korean’s were very kind to me. I returned to California and went to school on the GI Bill, earning a BS in Biology and later, an MS in Statistics. (not bad for someone who only made it through geometry at PHS) I married and that worked for a while but was divorced when my daughter was 5 (after 14 years of marriage). Allison is now 21 years old and studying Political Science in Texas. I was a math and science teacher for about 12 years before changing careers; now I am a data analyst for Kaiser. I work in research and focus exclusively on vaccine studies, both on clinical trials and for Centers for Disease Control projects. The work is interesting and the people are wonderful so I’m pretty happy here. I also work as a part-time lecturer in statistics at a local University.
