Lillian's Story
Life after graduating from NDA in 1968 took me to continue studying to become a teacher of languages. Graduating from Barry University in 1972, I acquired a double major in English and Spanish with a minor in Education and set out to get a first teaching job.
And guess where I was hired first!!!!!!!!
Well....at our own Notre Dame Academy High School where I was given the duty of teaching 9th Grade English!!! I taught all the freshmen for a few years and later as the years went by I had the opportunity of teaching English as a Second Language and take care of various activities such as the school's literary magazine, the drama club and others. I was there until 1981 when my son Luis was born. At the end of that year NDA closed its doors forever in the location of 62 street and became part of Curley High School .
The birth of my son was more important than teaching so I stayed home as a Mom until 1988.
I then started teaching again at Our Lady of Lourdes Academy in South Miami...Expand for more
until 1992. In 1993 I became a Real Estate Agent with Century 21 Active Realty where I still work.
My family is short. My husband Jose, my son Luis and myself. This February 2008 we are celebrating 35 years of marriage and our son will be 27 years this coming March. My husband Jose dedicated 30 of our married years working as head of human resources for several cruiselines and retired in 2004.
Our son Luis studied hard and became an attorney after attending FIU for the Bachelor's Degree and Law School at the Jesuit Law School of St. Louis University in Missouri. He now works as a corporate attorney for the NOKIA company.
My husband and I are active parish memebers of St. Edward's in Pembroke Pines, where we lived many years until retirement. We look forward to becoming grandparents some day when our son decides to settle down......
For the moment , we look forward to seeing some of you maybe in our "40th year after graduation reunion" Wow!!! Has it been that long?????
