Lillian's Story

Hello old and dear friends! I only recently got a gold membership and just today, Sept4, figured out that the message center is where you can read peoples letters back to you.For now my big goal is to take time off from caring for my 1st grandchild all day every week (so my daughter Leyla can continue working at Coca-Cola)and go to the Dragoncon Labor Day weekend convetion downtown. Mrs. Kaler would be giving me grief for such a run on sentence! When I can steal some more time from 9 mo old FelixI,ll try to put up more information. Best wishes to all of you,Lillian Nov 19 2009 Someone told me that "Getting old is not for the faint of heart." I guess he was right. On Columbus Day I was going out to babysit my grandson. It was cold nasty and rainy.I took 8 steps out the door to go to the car and then screamed. I didn't know what hit me, but I couldn't walk and only barely continue standing on my left foot.I had to call my husband(inside the house) to come help me back inside.Every step...Expand for more
was shear agony and it wasn't till 4pm that I could see my doctor. He sent me to a sports doctor who determined I had torn the meniscus padding between my right kneebones."How did you do that?"Just walking. Now I need surgery to fix it.But there's more.A nerve in my upper back got pinched and at the Stone Mountain Chili Cookoff I picked up an H.Pylori bacteria that has made me nauseous for 2 months. Two ultrasounds and a colonoscopy later they discover I have a dying gallbladder. So now it's surgery Dec 15 for that, rest for a week (REST? the last 7 days before Christmas???)and no lifting up grandson or other objects. And who knows when surgery on the knee will be...On the bright side my son Michael loves cooking and Serdar says what are we going to do when he leaves to teach English in South Korea? That's really an insult beacause I do cook Turkish,Polish,Italian and American classics.Tuna Fish Casserole was something I discovered in my twenties. Happy Thanksgiving and Joyeux Noel to everyone.
