Linda's Story

At Central, I was known as Linda Bailey, one-half of a set of twins who looked and acted NOTHING alike! I was definitely a geek ("bookworm" was the term at the time) and, if you recall, I was the class salutatorian. I have 3 beautiful daughters (Jenn, Alli, and Lena), a great husband (Joe), a cute Scottish Terrier (Molly), adorable rabbit (Rosie), and a rewarding career (Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment at Trumbull Public Schools and Adjunct Professor in Southern Connecticut State University's 6th year program in Educational Leadership). I received my Ed.D. in 2006, so I am Dr. Linda Paslov! I left Central High School in 1998 (I had taught both math and reading there over the years), went to Bunnell High School, became an Assistant Principal there, and then became Principal of Wooster Middle School in Stratford. Joe is a retired physical education teacher at Central High School, as well as an avid golfer. My girls are wonderful! Jenn (age 34) also has her doctorate (she started the 4-year doctoral program at SCSU a year after I did, once she saw that I was surviving it). She is the Social Studies Department Chair at Bunnell High School in Stratford. (She did her undergraduate work in Psychology at Wesleyan University and graduate work at SCSU.) She is very career-driven, as well as volunteer-oriented. (She worked in Mali, Africa two summers ago, helping to make bricks for a new school.) Alli (31) is a singer! She went to Indiana University where she majored in Vocal Performance (opera). She works locally as a church soloist (The First Congregational Church of Stratford) and as a voice teacher. th a band (NOT rock & roll!), and has sung in two operas in Salzburg, Austria. She has traveled to many countries (England, Austria, New Zealand, Italy, Hungary, and more) where she has sung solos with such groups as the Mendelssohn Choir of Connecticut and the Stratford Sister Cities Chorus. (I sing with the Stratford Sister Cities Chorus as well.) She speaks several languages as well. She is VERY talented! Lena (almost 23) is a graduate student at Fairfield University where she majors in American Studies. She is an avid reader, and is not yet sure what she wants to do when she "grows up." She loves animals, and also loves to design and decorate. She is very sweet and sensitive and very spoiled! She also wants a grandma and/or grandpa desperately, as the only one she ever knew (my mother) died in 1997, when she was very young. (My Dad died in 1987.) I have sketched, designed and sewn over the years, creating sets for the Bunnell High School marching band and costumes for many plays and dance recitals. This is how I have managed to work my artistic talent into my life. I also occasionally do caricatures of people with whom I work. I have been into genealogy (another hobby of mine) since I was a teenager, and recently traced our roots back to the Revolutionary War (Benjamin Jaquith, one of my mother's great- great- great- great- grandfathers was a private in the Revolutionary War who was born in Billerica, Massachusetts but moved to Jaffrey, New Hampshire). We (myself, my 3 daughters, my older sister, and one of her daughters) are now members of the DAR (Daughters of the Revolution)! Laura (my twin) recently joined as well. (updated 3-9-2013)
