Life I've lived in many places around the country. After living and working in Atlanta, Georgia for 10 years (where I was director of the Georgia Library for the Blind & Physically Handicapped), in September 2005, my husband and I moved to the Boston area where I am director of a public library in suburban Boston. We live in a 300 year old house near the west bank of the Charles River. Before that I lived in Colorado, Wyoming, and Indiana. For 15 years I was married to a man who was a quadriplegic. It was from him that I developed an interest in disability issues. We were married in Laramie, Wyoming and divorced in Marietta, Georgia. A few years later I met my husband Jim at the Unitarian Universalist church in Marietta. We're both musicians and have a group called "Two New Moons." Jim plays acoustic guitar and I play the Native American flute. We recorded a CD in 2003. In 1994, while still living in Cheyenne, I ran for the Wyoming House of Representatives. Ran against an incumbent Republican and lost by only 291 votes. The next year I moved to Georgia and found myself living in Newt Gingrich's district! In June 2005, Jim and I rode in the "Bicycle Ride Across Georgia" -- a 435 bike ride across the state in 6 days, in the heat (and humidity) of summer. It was the most physically challenging thing I've ever done. In September 2005, we moved to Millis, MA where I am director of the public library. We're looking forward to doing some rides now that we live here in New England. We've bicycled on Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard (rode out to Chappaquidick Island where Teddy drove off the bridge).
