Linda Kay's Story
Life
I have to say my greatest accomplishments in my life have been my two children. I now have six grandchildren who are pretty terrific also. I haven't gained any great titles or received any large degrees but I have a close relationship with my Lord and that is THE most important thing in my life. Every day is an adventure along the road of life and I have met several people who have left their mark on my heart forever. It truly pains me to see so much waste and hurt in this country of ours, especially when it comes to children. My family was my whole life till 1989 and now I want to start on another adventure of making "wee wraps" for the children in Applachia with the Lords help. Well apparently the Lords' plans were not the same as mine. Our son graduated in l988 and left for the Navy 3 days later and our daughter graduated in l989 and left for school in Kentucky. I became a seamtress for the Muncie Civic Theater and my husband became the House manager. This continued for the next 6 years. We also got involved in Hot Air Ballooning which is really fantastic. There is nothing like it to float above the city and country side and also to go to competitions and I am terrified of heights. Then in 2005 our life took a terrible turn. ob started having health problems but no one knew what was wrong and after a year we received the news ---ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease). There is no known cure and no known cause and there are no medications you can take to stop or slow it down. He was in a nursing home until they could no longer provide 24/7 care and I then took full FMLA from my employer and brought him home and that is where we are now. The Lord has still blessed us richly through all of this and has sent many angels to minister to us. I have learned much about myself and others and what truly matters in this life. I know that where ever the road of life takes me my Lord will be right there with me sustaining me all the way.
As some of you know or may not know, my husband, Bob, of 38 yrs passed away on July 8, 2007 from ALS. The disease took a great toll on him as he went from a man 6' 4" weighing 295 down to 195. I am now a "widow" but I prefer the term single. I fill my life with work and church and visits with my grandchildren about once per year. My daughter has added to the list another granddaughter, Delainey. So I now have 7 beautiful grandchildren. My mom passed away this past August, 08. That is just life, up and down or hills and valleys but God is and always has been present.
