Linda's Story

**REUNION**REUNION**REUNION**REUNION** Please plan on attending and send in your RSVP - our 50-yr reunion is going to be like none before it! See you in August************************* After graduation I immediately went to work at Boeing as a stenographer. From there I entered the data processing field and eventually worked for Naval Supply Center at PSNS. While there I met my husband, Jack. It really was love at first sight - three weeks later he asked me to marry him! Jack's military career took me to new experiences and cultures. One fascinating experience, in 1978, while on a day excursion with a hired cabbie, was seeing TV antennas on the thatch roofs of nippa huts in remote jungle-like villages of the Philippines. Electricity was a luxury in a lot of these areas - the western world had great influence even in the poorest of areas. After Jack retired from the Navy, we moved to Alabama where Jack took a position as a pilot with NASA. With retirement from NASA, we moved to CA to take care of his aging parents. Having lived away from Bremerton for 35 years, it is good to be home. I have three children - son, Chris-48; daughters, Melinda-47,Carol-45; and two step dau's - Tina-47, and Dana-44; nine grandchildren. Chris is a Supv. Production Controller at Bangor; Melinda, has returned to college to finish education degree; and Carol is Administration/PR at Seattle Christian School. Tina is an office manager with Seattle Mortgage; and Dana, teaches preschool in Bellingham. The outdoors - be it fishing, gardening, walking, car races, you name it - I enjoy it. We live in Port Orchard with Banner Forest as our back and side yards... it is a wildlife sanctuary - peaceful, yet keeps us busy. My inner child continues to survive - I still love doing spontaneous things, just...Expand for more
making safer choices. These bones fear breaks!!! Reuniting with high school girlfriends has truly been a joy. When I returned to Washington (Pt Orchard), I contacted several of them and we get together at least once a year ~ Patty Fee, Olivia Snyder, Marlene Nardi, Pam LeTourneau, Jeanie Dunsmoor, Judy Dobrowski, Carol Sue Stansbury, and JoAnn Streenan. To really relax, I love to find time to read - mostly mystery, some non-fiction. Another hobby is scrapbooking - but there never seems to be enough time for it. One of the craziest things I did while in high school was sneak out late one night, taking daddy's car keys, pushed the family station wagon out the driveway and down the alley next to the Star Of The Sea, and then went cruising!! Yep - I was found out - not because I was noisy coming home because I shut off the engine at the top of the alley and coasted back into the driveway - I was ratted on by the cops... several were friends of my dad's and they saw the family car out and about late and mentioned it to dad... first time I was ever restricted. I hope classmates remember me as fun, funny, kind, cheerful, a good friend.... One regret I have is not getting to see Susan Maughan again before she died. She was a wonderful girl and friend. I was literally very shaken to learn of her death when I came home for the 40-yr reunion. My high school friendships have been with me in heart all these years, now we have reconnected. I'm a reality show nut! Especially Amazing Race and Survivor, American Idol and Project Runway. I love Brothers and Sisters (with Sally Fields, Rob Lowe) - TV is an evening sport in our house.... days are filled with our busy life. Weekends we currently volunteer at Habitat for Humanity building houses (14) for the self-help program.
