Linda's Story
My husband and I moved to Port Austin, Michigan in January 1982. We were married in our living room by his cousin, Judge Knoblock. We were married 30 years.
Tom and I ran a business called T&L Equipment. He repaired Heavy Trucks and Tractors. I did the office part of the business, sending bills, running for parts, etc.
Tom passed away in October 2012. It was only 8 weeks from the day I took him to the ER until the day of the funeral. He had cancer that spread and other problems that were not diagnosed until this time. He was 65.
I dissolved the business. The good part is I did all the business and tax parts of the business, so I was very familiar with what needed to be done.
Tom was the Assistant Chief on the Port Austin Fire Department. He was part of the department for 30 years. My son, Brad is also a fireman. Brad lives in Bay Cit...Expand for more
y, Michigan.
I also have a son, Jason. He has a 12 year old son, Andrew. They live in Bad Axe, 20 miles away from me.
I have two cats. Mini and Murdock. My cat Lucky, I got as a 6 week old kitten. He passed away the day before I turned 65 last October. Mini's brother, Max, passed away last October also. I adopted a deaf cat from my sister, Judy. She fosters cats. His name is Murdock. He is extremely special. He is 10 years old. Murdock and Lucky were "best buds". When I got Murdock I had a two-year plan to train him as a Therapy Cat. Like to visit lonely widows. Or take to preschool and explain deafness to the kids.
Little did I know I would be a widow the same year I got Murdock. Murdock has always been a stress reliever. Just to look at his face!
I still live in Port Austin. The Tip of the Thumb. If you are in the area, stop by!
