Linda's Story
I attended college for two years after high school. I began working for Southwestern Bell in Houston in 1967 and after my dad passed away in May, 1968, I moved back to Mauriceville to be near my mother. I worked for Bell in Beaumont for 17 years. I got married in 1971 in Mauriceville but then divorced in 1983. After the divorce, I lived and worked in Beaumont for a couple of years. Then, due to the phone company split and to follow my AT&T job, I moved to Dallas, Houston and Atlanta, GA (in that order.) After having moved back to Houston from Atlanta in 1995, I eventually retired from AT&T in 2002 with 35 years service. d working there since 2006. My house is in northwest Houston and I stay busy with work, church activities, caring for my house and 2 canines and 6 felines, sharing activities with old and new friends and, of course, trying to make time for exercise. I thank God for letting me grow up during my teenage years and beyond in Mauriceville and for all of you, my friends, and also for the education I got at Mauriceville High School that prepared me for life and for the work force. The job skills I learned back then have provided my livelihood and the strength behind my work ethic for all these years. Like some of you, I'm now looking retirement straight in the eye!!
