Linda's Story
Life
I graduated from the UA in December, 1999 with a degree in Political Science. I received my teacher certification from the University of Phoenix in October of 2001. I have also completed my Master's in Education from the University of Phoenix (I finished that in 2003). Thank God! I went back to UA to get my special education certification in 2004 because I started working at Cholla Magnet High School as a special education teacher. I worked at Cholla for three years, and now I am working at Howenstine Magnet High School. This school year (2007-2008) will be my first year at Howenstine. I work with students with moderate to severe disabilities. It's hard work, but fun and gratifying. As some of you may remember, I wanted to go to law school, but that didn't work out like I planned. I still want to go to law school one day, but I'm having too much fun teaching right now. Still single and still live in Tucson. Don't worry, I have a cat to keep me company. I have friends too, who I like to go have lots of drinks ...Expand for more

Workplace
Well, I started working at Grandy's right before high school graduation, and worked there for four years. Then, these new people took over and cut my salary, so I quit and went to work at Jason's Deli. I was there for three years. By then, I had my teaching certification, so I was a substitute teacher for a year, then I got a job at Presidio High School. I worked there teaching English for a year, then was not invited back to teach another year. That was fine with me because the administration was not too friendly. I then did another year of substitute teaching with TUSD. Being a substitute actually helped me land my current job at Cholla High School teaching special education. I actually subbed in the classroom that I have now, and the department head remembered me and offered me the job over the summer. I worked at Cholla for three years and now I will be working at Howenstine Magnet High School teaching special education. That's pretty much the story of my work history.
