Linda's Story

My husband Duane Reeves (class of '77)and I have Been married since ' June of 78, We have 3 sons, 45,26 & 25, yes, you read it right!! We have a llama farm in Manchester with llamas,, goats, blue tongue skink, plus we have 6 dogs, (do greyhound rescue too,) cats and parrots. We are active in 4H and leaders here in Washtenaw County. Our oldest son was a fire fighter/paramedic for Metro Airport for over 6 years, then left there as there was no room to advance like he could, So he has been at City of Wayne Fire Dept since, he is now a captain. He has been married to the most wonderful & sweetest person. Our middle son is effected with autism, something you think about in school age kids, not a 26 yr old at 6 '5". He does pet sitting & walking. People love him so much they book him a year in advance! I agree with him, pets are better to be around then people . He loves to play hockey. Our youngest is a hard worker & works for a landscape company, the right hand guy. His hockey career ended when he got hurt. He does play in an adult league, he still is so damn good he has a target on his back. So they go after him to take him out. I don't have any grandchildren, don't think i ever will. I didn't go to college, didn't see the world. But my life has been pretty good, I was happy with raising 3 great kids. I enjoy my animals and find there is always room for more ( well until everything has gone sky high, so ...Expand for more
we are reducing our herd of llamas now.) We had a suprirse baby llama born last month, nothing like going to the barn and discover new life, watching them running and playing ...well there is no better feeling to have! I had breast cancer, had 2 surgeries and went though treatments. I am cancer free for 16 years now. I am thankful that I went though it as crazy as it sounds, but I found what is important & what isn't, who cared & who didn't. I learned to let things go. I see things so differently too. I hope everyone is getting their mammogram or having the ones they love getting it. If it wasn't for that, The out come wouldn't be as great as it is since we caught it early enough. Now I have a brain tumor that is non cancer for now. From having breast cancer some cells got loose & they travel & sit dormant for months or years. For not smoking or drinking & very active I have health issues, which slows me down. My mind thinks I can, but the body thinks otherwise a lot of time. I often wonder if the ones we thought would go far, if they did. Or if the crazy ones ever grew up. sadly I know some of our class mates have died way to young. We have lost so many from our class. Where did 46 years go! Never thought getting old would happen so quickly. Age is nothing but a number, our body ages but our souls never does. I feel the same as I did way back then, a lot wiser however! Enjoy our retirement years!
