Linda's Story

Since graduating, I've had a wonderful daughter named Amber. She has Down's Syndrome and just turned 21 in 2007. (Has it really been that long?????) She has sometimes been a challenge but I wouldn't trade her for the world =) I never wanted kids after a few of my friends had kids but I guess the powers that be had other plans for me. Oh well, I didn't really want to go to college anyway. I never really was a bookworm. I got decent grades, I just didn't want to pursue it. (I've got people that work side by side with me with 4+ years of college who thought their degree would get them a better job....and here they are working shift work beside me...I just got a jump start and saved a few thousand dollars =) I started working at ICI at 21. Dupont bought us out in '98 and I'm working on my 20th year now. (There are several from CHHS there =) Staying single was a goal until I came across a wonderful man that managed to sweep me off my feet. We have been together for 9 years and will soon be celebrating our 4th anniversary. I guess I couldn't wait forever (but I gave it a shot !!!!!!) We like to travel to different places and are going on our 3rd cruise this summer. We honeymooned in Maui. We've been to 6 islands, so far, and several "mainland" places. We also love outdoor concerts. (We live about a mile from Innsbrook, so, we don't have to go far.) He went to...Expand for more
Woodstock '94 and I went with him to Woodstock '99. That was an experience =) We've also traveled to different concerts. We have 3 cats, 2 dogs, 3 fish tanks and over 100 house plants (some are mine, some are my Mom's). I haven't kept in touch with hardly anyone since school with the exception of Faith (Waldemeyer) Heaton. She was married to Donald Stevens when he died. Faith and I grew up across the street from one another and became the best of friends since Donald died. Even after all this time, it still feels like yesterday that he died. I just recently re-connected with a couple people and it has been nice talking to them. I ride through my old neighborhood quite often and was even able to take a walk-through of the house I grew up in while they were re-modeling it. I always want my daughter to know where she grew up. I knew it wasn't going to be easy but it was well worth it. I would never have realized how little would have changed. It was like living in the past. I chose to remember the good memories. The neighborhood really hasn't changed that much....only the names and the faces (a few of the people are still around but not many). Well, life has actually been good to me and I hope it has been as well to you all. I do miss my neighbors (and one in particular....you know who you are =) =) =) but we grow up and move on... we just never forget.
