Linda's Story
I doubt anyone remembers me from school. Over the years I've run into several people from school and the only one who remembered me was Denny Ott. I ran into him in '73 at an Albertson's. Other people that I thought were some of my best friends did not remember even knowing me in high school. That hurt! So I've given up trying to talk to people I recognize from high school or college. Suffice it to say that I was married since '72. I have 2 sons, 1 daughter and 4 grandsons. A beautiful granddaughter was born in 2013 so now I have 5 grandchildren. I consider all my kids the pride and joy of my life and also that they are my sole contribution to a better world. My kids and grandkids are the jewels in my crown. They have taught me humility and the truest, deepest love. I live a very quiet life out in Spanish Springs, on almost 3 acres. My beloved husband passed away at the end of May, 2010 and its been very hard to be alone after we were together for 40 years. I have lots of animals, both wild and tame. I spend lots of time during the summer months rescuing baby birds fallen from their nests. I don't have to work anymore and am retired. When I was working, I worked in hospitals as a EKG tech, monitor tech and unit clerk. After 20 yrs. of that I went to work for one of the doctors I knew from working at the hospital. I've been involved with music most of my life, on a semi-professional basis, mostly singing back-up. I always wanted to be a singer when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a terrible idea. As it turns out, they were wrong, it was fun! The last paying gig I did was back-up for Barry Manilow at Tahoe in the mid '90's. However, I have done lots of gigs at weddings & funerals throughout the years I lived in WA state. I sang at my son Jason's wedding in 1994, which I have on tape. I've lived through many earthquakes and the volcanic eruptions of Mt.St. Helen's in 1980. We lived only 60 miles from the mountain and our town was buried in ash several times. I've gotten to experience many interesting things such as a Bigfoot encounter in 1970 and living in haunted houses. I've always been a natural psychic, although I only give readings to friends or family. I made one exception last year when a friend of my daughter lost a dear friend. He was so very upset that I felt it could help him if he could make a connection with his friend. It worked and Robby was so very happy to know that his friend was all right on the other side. It's been interesting to see the plethora of ghost shows come on TV - just proves to me that everyone wants that assurance that life exists after this life. I also did a little free-lance writing for paranormal m...Expand for more
agazines that no longer exist. Now I like to visit ghost towns in Nevada. Always looking for a few good ghosts to hunt down. Lol! My dream home would be a spooky old manor house in England, or maybe a castle. Lol. Currently my hobbies are still writing and photography, music and art. I mostly do landscape photography, work it with Photoshop and hang them in my house. It's fun, I like it. My best friend would tell you I'm just a sensitive, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as crazy. My best friend is Joan. We met when we were 10 and in fifth grade and have been the best of friends ever since. In 2011 we will be celebrating 50 years of being best friends. That's really something to celebrate!
Update 2014: In spring I finally had the back surgery I'd waited 8 months for, after I broke my back in a car accident in 2013. My only daughter got married in May. Now all my kids are settled and happy. So I'm happy! I feel very blessed to be able to walk again and continuing my surgery recovery. I'm planning a trip to England in late fall 2015 so am looking forward to my first trip out of the country besides all my visits to Canada. I will once again be able to travel, which is one of my favorite things to do. "Not all who wander are lost..." Things are looking up!
Update: 2017
I'm still alive & kicking, though not as much as before. My back surgery was successful at first but because I have plastic rods & screws in my lower back I haven't been able to maintain my former height. I'm very short now. Don't like it at all! I'm somewhat limited in what I can do but I still travel. I never made it to the U.K. in 2015. Instead I went to a Lorena McKennitt concert in New Hampshire, which was really great, then spent time in Vermont. I was gone for 10 days & enjoyed the fall color in the Green & White mountains of Vermont. I was just exhausted when I got home but the trip was so wonderful that I didn't mind at all. My daughter has been fighting a long pbattle with Lyme disease & went through extensive therapy all through 2016. She's better but has suffered some permanent damage which she will have to live with from now on. My eldest son is a captain flying for Alaska Airlines, his wife has been teaching elementary school since graduating 2 years ago & my twin grandsons will be 18 in January & are in their senior year of high school. Time just flies by! My youngest son Shawn & his wife are busy with their three kids, Trenton (10), Riley (8) & Hannah (4). They spend most summer weekends out camping & jet skiing. I'm just thankful that all my kids & sweet grandchildren are happy & living a good life. As for me & the future... who knows?
