Linda's Story

Some people have asked me to write about what I've been doing, they seem to think it's interesting...we shall see... I hope everyone feels I treated them nicely in school; I wasn't in any "clique" I was in Drama and Speech and ran track, that is up until the time I got pregnant near the end of my Junior year. You remember the days, this was scandalous...I chose to keep my baby so...no more high school for me. My son is a fine young man, at least he is now that he's all grown up. He did give me a run for my money in his youth and teens, but I'm proud of him and glad I made the decision I did. He father and I did get married, and remained so for 17 years...problem with some young marriages...you might not grow together, but in different directions. Plain and simple, that's what happened. But I did not give up on the institution of marriage, so I did it again...and have been married now for 18 years and have a 16 1/2 year old son...who is once again giving me a run for my money...I have high hopes when he turns 40 I will like him too. I also have a granddaughter who is 19 and a granddaughter 16 1/2 (born only 3 days before my son). My 19 year old granddaughter ha...Expand for more
s a son, so that makes me, yes, a Great-Grandmother. After school I went into banking; starting as a teller and after 20 years "retired" as a Senior Vice President of Savings Operations for Torrance Bank (now defunct, but no fault of mine). I "retired" when my husband's company moved to Tulsa OK..and we decided to go there with them. Culture shock...not a move I would do again. So when he was offered a job in San Francisco I said let's do it...Back to California... I remained "retired", doing volunteer work with my son's class; and honing my skills to turn my avocation into my occupation. I love to cook and invent culinary delights, and that's what I do now. I'm working on a web-site called LindySez and hope to bring slow food back into our homes. Slow food, the idea of sitting down and eating dinner together, something I think is so important and insisted on all the time in my own home, perhaps why I only got a "run for my money" and not out and out defiance...who knows... Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I am looking forward to the reunions that are coming up. I'm planning on going to both class of '69 and class of '70. Hope to see you there.
