Linda's Story
June 2016
Some of you may remember me by my nickname from T'ridge, 'Maynard'.
In 1978 my car was rear-ended by a truck and I was badly injured. A friend of mine convinced me to see a Chiropractor. I did and recovered quickly from the injuries. It was a life changing event because I decided to quit my job as a System's Analyst for CNA Insurance and to go back to school to become a Chiropractor.
After I graduated from Chiropractic College in 1982 I moved to the Hickory Hills/Palos Hills area and have been here ever since. It's about 30 minutes northwest of the I-80 intersection on Halsted. When I went into semi-retirement in 2014 I closed my office in Hickory Hills. I downsized into a space sharing agreement with a colleague in Palos Hills. I now practice part-time in Palos Hills. I also continue to live in Palos Hills.
In my spare time I am very active in a lot of areas. I have stopped riding horses due to some serious injuries. I am a member of the Chicago Classical Guitar Ensemble. We did play out of St. Xaviar College for quite a while. Weâve moved to VanderCook College of Music on Federal down by IITâs Campus.
I have continued my membership in the lo...Expand for more
cal Chamber of Commerce, but am now volunteering more time with the Small Business Advisory Council and actively participate on their Policy Committee-it puts my BA in Political Science to good use. Nope, no kids...just lucky I guess. ;*}
Iâve retired from the faculty of the American College of Addictionology and Compulsive Disorders. I still treat substance abusers and users with acupuncture and nutrition in my Palos Hills office.
Iâve gotten very interested in land investing. I earned my California Real Estate license in 2011 and am now the only Certified Land Specialist this side of the Mississippi. I now sell investment quality pre-developed land in the Los Angeles area. Itâs a fun way to add to my retirement security and make new friends. It also allows me to travel a lot to California and the Antelope Valley east of LA.
My sense of humor hasn't changed much, although I think my jokes are better.
My folks have both passed away, but they stayed in Thornton on Hunter Street all their lives. (Mom in '98 and Dad in '99). All eight of my brothers and sisters are alive and well and all over the country.
Drop me a line and let me know where you are.
