Linda's Story

After Shorecrest: I entered a business school and graduated from there in 1974. From there on I worked in accounting for various companies in the Seattle ¿ east side area. I was able to do a bit of traveling then and made my way to the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Hong Kong and then again to Mexico. Drat, I did miss seeing the great wall of China for lack of an additional 3 days to get my visa. Who would have thunk! I had an opportunity to take a small vacation to Arizona in which I purchased my first horse, a 2 year old filly. Within 6 weeks I had quit my job , packed up my stuff and moved south. I stayed there for awhile working on a dude ranch and learning about the horse industry. During my adventure, I purchased another 2.5 year old gelding that was just under saddle so between the two of them I spent a bit of time in the saddle in the desert. With family health issues I came home to Washington although I was only able to bring one of my ponies with me. From this point I had to get back into mainstream employment and found a job working in the healthcare industry in accounting. Nice job, good people. I was able to finance another trip to...Expand for more
Greece with my roommates and we had the time of our lives! Athens was a blast and so was Mykonos. The only downside was we arrived about the time a large storm that headed across Europe did. No problem, it just curtailed our trip to Santorini, although it did provide more time on Mykonos. Ahhh...an excuse for another trip? With the traveling put to rest, I decided to move Boze, my horse, Bear my dog to eastern Washington. I was spending quite a bit of time over there for rides and roundups anyway so it was a natural move. I found a small chunk of land close to Roslyn and started the development process. Water, septic, electrical and house costs, they all seem to add up fast but at least we were all together. My family has grown, now I am married (I guess that means I settled down!) and have 3 step-daughters, two are grown and one just turned fifteen, six horses, three dogs, three cats (not including the neighbors 2 that we feed) and a lot of windshield time commuting to pay the expenses on all of them! In the interim, I mustered up a AA degree in accounting and hopefully will be able to roll into my BA unfortunately on a part time basis. Here¿s hoping!
