Linda's Story
Most of my grade school was spent at Parker Elementary School in Detroit.
I then went to Mackenzie High School, I attended Bob Jones University. I returned to Michigan and finished my schooling at Eastern Michigan receiving my BS and MA. I married in Aug. 1963 and this year will celebrate my 56th anniversary. During my teaching career, I taught Elementary School for 41 years in Michigan, Ohio, and Nashville, Tennessee.
In May, 2006, I decided it was time to retire. This was a really big step for me as I had dedicated a large portion of my life to the education of children. Teaching has been a wonderful part of my life. I am proud to have been a small guiding force in my students lives. Since I have retired, I have been able to visit with several of my students in different parts of the country. I enjoy learning about what they are doing with their lives.
I joined Classmates in hopes of hearing from students I have taught and friends I have lost contact with in high school and college. I have been so pleased that many have contacted me. It is such a wonderful feeling to hear what "my kids and old friends" are doing with their lives.

My husband and I are enjoying not having a scheduled life. It is wonderful to be able to go and come when it is convenient for us. We look forward to doing some of the things in life we have put off because of the teaching calendar. I have been taking some classes in genealogy and have had fun tracing family roots. We have visited many states in search of family history.
My husband and I enjoy travelling and have many spots that have become our favorites. A couple of years ago, we had to put our plans on hold as I was diagnosed with Uterine and Breast Cancer. I have had Chemo and Radiation and have a few parts removed, but have regained my strength so I can begin to travel again.
I have tackled being President of our Homeowner's Association for 8 years. I have served as Publicity Chair and Vice President for the Middle TN Genealogical Society. Recently, I took up painting and crochet for the layette service for the Marine/Navy families. So in retirement I am keeping busy.
