1/1/2010: HAPPY NEW YEAR! I'm back in the FL Keys with mom. Loving the warmth and beach adventures. Mom's health is improving and my family agreed I need to be with her. We had quite a wide spread fish kill due to the prolonged water temps in the 40's. It was very sad to see the moray eels and reef fish dead on the beaches. We have frigates flying the skies now with the gulls and pelicans. We should be here until the Spring. Come see us! 3/2/10: Hi there, still in FL to care for my mom. She's doing great. My sister is back in WV with her family. Watched WVU BB team advance to the final 4 in the play-offs. My nephew, Justin is an alum of WVU. So exciting!! Go Mountaineers!! Found Barb Hedman on this site. I'm still looking for Janet Lewis and Marcia Harrison. 8/01/10: What a warm summer this has been in Maryland....wonder what Aug. will bring? My sister, Donna, has moved from the hills of WV to NC. Can't wait to visit! Mom had another stroke on 7/2/10. She requires care 24/7 which I will provide for as long as I can. Please Lord, keep me able! She attends Rehab 4 days a week and is working hard to regain strength and speech. I'm looking forward to a visit from Nancy Batta Davis in the next mo. or two. What a caring friend she is! This Spring I learned how to scuba dive with my daughter, Lori. Can't wait to go again! Hope we can get our 1968 yearbook added to this site! 8/30/10: My nephew, Justin, is now attending law school at American U. in DC. He's interested in International Law. So nice to have him closer to us. Mom has stopped therapy....she wasn't making progress anymore. So we're on a break. Thought we would try to visit my sister in NC but Mom is getting weaker. Not sure she could handle the 8hr. drive. Night all....have to catch some zzzz's. 8/27/11: What a difference a yr makes. Since my last entry, I did take mom to NC to visit my sister. We stayed from mid-Feb until late April. We then headed for the FL Keys to check on mom's house and make some repairs. After just three days, Mom had a grand mal seizure at IHOP. Visiting nurses are helpful, but I'm the only one who can draw her blood successfully. My sister came down to help care for mom and help drive her back to NC. The local EMTs came to help Mom into my Ford Explorer. Sixteen hours later at 2am we reached Elizabethtown, NC. Next came hurricane Irene and I'm waiting to hear how my family in MD did with the same. 8/4/12: We arrived in MD just before Christmas by way of a Medical Transport Service for the East Coast. Mom is now receiving In-Home Hospice services. She survived until 4/14/12. I will miss her everyday! 2/27/13: My new passion........fossil hunting!! My sister and I have discovered a Cretaceous sea bed. We have found Mosasaur, crocodile and Goblin shark teeth. I'm out of commission right now with phlebitis but hope to feel better after having vein ablation in both legs. Congratulations to Doug and Lois Thelin Campbell on the birth of their second grandchild, sweet little Olive in CA. 7/27/14: Good friend, Nancy Batta Davis and I visited the Horse Ranch she used to take her son and his friends to in his hs days. Had a great time hanging out with her. Then we traveled to visit my 94yo Aunt Gen in Elmira, NY through the wine country of the Finger lakes area enroute to visit Lois Thelin Campbell in Oswego. Had a wonderful visit there as always! I continue hunting for fossilized dino bones near my sister's home......love the hunt! 9/29/14: Will celebrate our 36th wedding anniversary 9/30! Have to save plans to dine out until I get home from fossil hunting with my little sis, Donna. We will meet with the curator of the Paleontology Dept at the NC Museum of Natural Science.
