Linda's Story
Retired in March 2013 and moved to Franklin, NC with my 2 dogs and significant other, Ron Smith. I absolutely love it here and am anxiously awaiting an actual fall and winter, not being dependent on what is in Publix to determine the current or approaching season. We are 17 miles from town and our mostly Floridian neighbors are within hollerin' distance. Here there is the wonderful absence of town noises with an occaisional plane or helicopter travelling overhead. The most prevelant and welcome sounds are those of the plentiful variety of birds feasting on our many feeders. As of this writing, I've returned twice to Sarasota (June and September) to clear up loose ends with my move and each time couldn't wait to return home to North Carolina.

uilts of Valor and have met so many people from all parts of Florida including Sarasota that now call this area home. I am also planning on teaching basic to advanced dog obedience, agility and conformation beginning in the spring.
Update August 24, 2023: Not long ago passed the 10 year anniversary of becoming a NC resident and do not miss Florida at all, save my family and friends! My 2 Cardigan Welsh Corgis that made the move with me have both crossed the bridge and I now have sibling Pembroke Welsh Corgis who will be 2 this coming December. I am still training and competing with both girls in AKC and UKC events and just found someone in Franklin with sheep who will trade lessons with her young Border Collie for my time with my girls on sheep. Dogs, quilting and living in the mountains of North Carolina, what else could a person want?
