Linda's Story
Life
I am a lifelong New Yorker, living in Manhattan all this time. I was a member of the Abyssinian Baptist Church in New York City from a youngster until the time I joined the Riverside Church in New York in 1969. I have been a member of their Business and Professional Women's Club since 1971 and have held many offices within the Club. I am currently in my 3rd year as President of that organization. It's a lot of fun, and by serving on various committees, I have had the opportunity to meet people from all over the world.
I graduated from Rhodes Preparatory School in June 1963, from Hunter College with a B.A. in June, 1967 with a major in French and a minor in Spanish. I received an M.A. in French from NYU and later took supervisory courses there. I also received a Graduate Certificate in Curriculum and Teaching from Fordham University.
I taught in JHS 120 from 1967-1973, and in P.S./I/S. 187 from 1973 to 2002...Expand for more
, when I retired.
I taught French and Spanish my entire career, chairing the foreign language departments in both of those schools.
I enjoy all kinds of things - all types of music, baseball (Mets), travel (especially cruises), concerts, plays, movies, computers, reading, current events, gourmet cooking, dining at good restaurants, genealogy and family reunions. I recently had a ball at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, where I discovered a whole new branch of my family. I have taken classes at the DeGustibus Cooking School at Macy's and hope to perhaps take some classes at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY.
I have worked part-time at Macy's Herald square for a number of years as a sales associate.
My cat, Madam Pélé, just celebrated her 15th birthday. She lets me live with her (smile.) My previous cat, Gale Storm (after the TV actress - now I'm really dating myself!) lived to be 20.
