Linda's Story
HI TO ALL,
After graduation, I attended BC while I worked as a Long Distance Telephone Operator, at the Welfare Department, and at the post office. In 1967 I married Chuck Kolstad (class of 65 at South High). We then went on to graduate from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. He received his MBA and I received a BS in Social Science (plan was to teach). One week after graduation I had our second child and we moved to Silicon Valley for Chuck to start his first job out of college. Teaching never happened, and I was an active stay-at-home Mom while the kids were growing up. I then entered San Jose State and completed a BS in Nursing. On the heals of that I entered graduate school and received my PHD in Clinical Psychology when I was over 50. Better late than never! I work at Kaiser Permanente and I specialize in the treatment of addictions in adults but also work with all other sorts of problems. I'm thinking of retiring in 2017 but that's not definite. I love my work but it gets more and more hectic every year and I must work late hours. We had two children, Christopher and An...Expand for more
drea. Chris (47) is married to my wonderful daughter-in-law and has two children. Alex is 16 and Julia is 13. I've become the stereotypical GRANDMA! My daughter, Andrea (43) is unmarried and seems to have found Mr. Right. We all live within about 5 blocks of each other which makes it wonderful for me (but I always call before I stop by). I have 2 cats. When I retire and am at home more, I REALLY want to get 2 SMALL dogs. Since I was raised in the Air Force the travel bug bit me. I've been able to travel fairly widely but I still have many "must see" places on my list. I've had back "issues" and this has cramped my travel somewhat but I'm trying to not let in totally rule my life. Since both of my parents are gone, as of June 2008, there are fewer reasons to go to Bakersfield.
Well, those are some tidbits of my life. If you would like to know more, please contact me. I hope we have a reunion soon. I don't think we should wait and do the every 10 year thing. I'm looking forward to seeing all of you.
PS. Chuck and I divorced Dec 2011 after about a 44 years marriage.
