Linda's Story

Going to start with last 10 years as it is easier to remember. Most of you know I have a daughter, Cecilia that we call Cis. She had two boys Angelo 3-4 85 and Santos 11-11 86. We took the job of raising both boys at Christmas of 1990. John passed away 5-21-01 2 mos short of his 80th birthday due to Black Lung as he was a coal miner for over 22 years. In july both boys were in Boy Scouts and they made the trip to BS Jamboree. The trip was 18 days cost 2400 per boy. Both of the boys went (this was just after John passed away). They had a great time. I stayed home working and went to Blue Mesa RV Resort(joined in '85)Worked at Sears from July '79 to 1-6-06 retiring completely after 26 1/2 years (retired lst time in Jan 2000 and returned in May 2000) Started at City Market-King Soopers-Kroger on Sept 13 '05 and still working 40 hours per week. Both boys became Eagle Scouts graduation in '04 & '05. Angelo went to Denver with Mom in fall of '05 and Santos attended Mesa State College (now Mesa University). Angelo passed away in Denver 2-6-06, 26 days short of his 21st birthday. He is greatly missed. Both he and Grandpa are buried at Price, UT. Santos was able to get on in the oil-gas field work and loves it. He was promoted to night supervisor, nice raise, and drives a Company Truck. He is only 24 and with this company about 1 1/2 years. ons Club in Feb. 2002 as Secretary. No problem as taking notes was easy. Little did I know about all the reports that were due before 1st of June. Boy did I learn in a hurry. Then there was a newsletter that came along later. Left that position and became 3rd V-Pres taking along the way all the Leadership Classes that were offered to help you be a better Lion. Well the handwriting was on the wall by Thanksgiving. Knew I would probably go right to President which was fine (thanks to all the courses) so my last meeting as President (2nd woman Pres by the way) was end of June. I am the go between the Lions and we sponsor the BS Troop so I do keep up with the boys and sit in on Board of Reviews when needed. Depending on where they are going and what they are doing if I go with them.In '04 I joined the Fraternal Order of Eagles and do volunteer work especially on weekends. Lots of times stop by on way home from work to have supper as I hate cooking for me. Sallie (my youngest sister, then Julie, and next was our brother Joe) is V-Pres of the Ladies Aux. If she goes in as Pres in June I am hoping to be her Conductor. This is one way we do get to spend time together. As you can see I am busy but I do enjoy hearing from classmates and what all they are doing. Please keep me posted and hope we have a 55th school reunion next year. Sallie and Santos came with me for the 50th. Linda
