Linda's Story
ok, y'all here's my story...my dad moved my family to chicago, illinois (barrington is the suburb) back in the summer of 73 because my grandpa and my father closed their family business, merwin automotive...my dad took this job in chicago and so i graduated from barrington high school in 75...as you know, i enjoyed playing sports and i excelled in volleyball, basketball and softball...after i graduated, i attended western illinois university for 1 year and then came back home and went to work...my career has been very colorful, to say the least...i never graduated college, i am not the student type... i hate school! but anyway, when i was 22 i met this guy named bill, the love of my life and when i was 23, we got married...at 28, i had my one and only child, a daughter named heidi...when bill and i were 37, back in 93, bill took a job with wendy's international in dallas, texas. (wendy's corporate) what a change from chicago...i hated moving to chicago back in 73 but let me tell you chicago is the greatest city ever! we lived on the ft. worth side and bill has had a great career with wendy's. i am so proud of him. the reason we went to dallas/ft.worth is my mom and dad ended up there for the last of my dad's career and when they moved from chicago, i missed them terribly and wanted heidi to grow up with them around...ended up, i did not like dallas/ft.worth at all...missed chicago and my friends...in 2004, bill had a job offer in hou...Expand for more
ston, texas with a huge franchise of wendy's...he has been sooo successful with wendy's, who would've guessed? so i was more than happy to move to houston...it's alot like chicago, but warmer and very tropical, i love the beach although texas beaches leave alot to be desired...now florida, different story...so now i've been married for 28 years in september and we are building a home in pearland, texas about 15 minutes south of the city...my daughter is at the university of houston, getting a degree in psychology and i am very proud of her...she works full time at my husband's company in the human resources department...and she is a member of the sorority, alpha chi omega...so opposite of me...but i couldn't be more proud of her!!! as far as me and my career? well, like i said, my job history has been very colorful...i have dressed actors in a play, been a pharmacy technician, ran call centers, worked for curves (the women's workout club) and many more jobs...but my favorite is taking care of my husband and raising my daughter...i get happiness from their success. and i have 2 chihuahuas i spoil to death...so there it is, the basic outline of my life since 1973, when i left emporia, kansas. i have always said, life is a journey and we are here to love and learn and if you can't do those 2 things, love and learn...then you're in for one hell of a time! and yes, for those of you that remember, i still have a truck driver mouth! haha!!!
