Linda's Story

Life After HS I lived in Montana for many years. Went through a divorce in 1989 and moved to South Carolina. At the age of 32, finally went to college and got my RN. I am now Quality Improvement and Education Manager / RN at a Hospice.I have been there 11 yeaqrs now. I remarried in 1991 to a great guy, Sam. He is my soulmate! My kids, Ernie and Amy are 34 and 31 now! Ernie is a Chief in the Navy and stationed in Guam. He has a beautiful wife, Shea and beautiful baby girl, almost 2. Sure miss my Guam baby! We did visit them in Guam, very pretty island. Hopefully they will be back in the states in 2 years. My daughter, Amy lives about 20 minutes away - She has 2 kids - Jackson 10 and Emma 7. It is so nice having them close. There is NOTHING like grandchildren! What can I say - life is good - love being in the south - waiting to retire so we can travel more. We have a RV - travel and fish as often as we can - looking forward to going more! Getting old isn't too bad! Looking forward to that retirement day! UPDATE Well--- Time marches on! Since I last posted information...much has gone on. The saddest news is that my sister Cathy passed away in July....much too early in her life!! Part of me seems to have gone with her. It is so hard and I miss her so very much. It took us many years to become close...like after we hit 20 years old. ..but after that, we made up for lost time and became very close. as my strength every time I needed it. I left Hospice in April of 2013 after 13 years. It was a difficult decision to make but I was offered an incredible position as an adjunct instructor at Tri-County Technical College ...and I couldn't pass it up! I LOVE teaching and love nursing for all the opportunities it gives you. I have worked many areas of care in many different positions...and just love it. I am so glad I was finally given the opportunity to go back to college. I am waiting on the arrival of my 4th Grandchild this year. My daughter is pregnant with a boy and due late May. I am so excited. Finally my son and his family are back in the states. He is now in Washington state for 3 more years until he retires from the Navy! OUCH!! I'm old!! We couldn't wait to retire and do more fishing...well we decided to buy a place on the lake and not wait till retirement! We LOVE it and go there every weekend. I'd love to one day sell the house and stay at the lake all the time. It is so peaceful. Can't wait till the warmer weather and get the kayaks out! LOVING living in the south! I am learning how precious life is. Since Cathy died, I am so afraid of not getting the chance to retire and still have plenty of time to do all the things we love. I hate that feeling! So...we try to cherish every day. I want many more years with Sam, the kids and watching those precious grandchildren continue to grow!
