Linda's Story
May, 2015
In 1968, I married my high school sweetheart, Carl Snyder. We lived in Toledo for five years then built a home in Whitehouse, Ohio in 1974. We lived in Whitehouse for 39 years and during that time we raised two children, a boy and a girl. When my children were in school, I was active in all their school events and sporting activities. In 1980, I was elected to the office of Clerk-Treasurer for the Village of Whitehouse and in 1987, became a full time employee. In 1993, I was appointed Finance Director for the Village of Whitehouse and retired from that position in 2007. I was a volunteer on the Whitehouse Cherry Fest Committee for 22 years as the treasurer. We love to travel and since 1980 made many,...Expand for more
many trips out west camping and hiking. Because of those travels, our daughter attended Graduate School at Denver University and stayed in Colorado after graduation. In 2013, we sold our home in Whitehouse, Ohio and moved to Aurora, Colorado to be closer to our daughter and two granddaughter. Our son is single and lives near St. Petersburg, Florida. I have many hobbies but since retiring, I have found a love for genealogy. I find the family tree research fun and rewarding in finding our family roots. I love retirement and being close to our granddaughters (8 & 6 years old) which keeps me very busy. After living in Colorado for nearly two years, it feels like home, however, I still feel like I am on vacation.
