Linda's Story

After high school I searched for a while to see what area of work I was interested in. I tried going to hairdresser school, I worked in a laboratory, worked in a hospital as a nurses aide, finally in my 30s a new funeral home opened in my town, and I started working there part-time. I decided I wanted to become a licensed funeral director. Went to mortuary college and got my license and worked in the funeral business for14 years. I got married 2 years after highschool graduation, had 2 little boys. Unfortunately got divorced, got remarried and had another little boy! I love them all dearly! My youngest is in high school now, and I keep trying to encourage him to get involved in the activities as I did when I was in high sch...Expand for more
ool I loved being in the colorguard in the Woodbridge Marching Band. When I tried out for that, and found that I was chosen, Thats when I really began to blossom, and that was the most fun part for me! Back in Jr. High I tried out for cheerleading, wanted to be a cheerleader SO BAD! ... Wasn't chosen. Was heartbroken. Never really "won" anything in my life . I had low self-esteem, then my dream came true in high school when I tried out for the marching band, and actually made it! I don't know where Mr. Baily is now, but I wish I could tell him what a huge difference he made in the life of a 15 year old girl when he was at the judges table and chose me for that! I remember that day, like it was yesterday! I was SO EXCITED!
