Linda's Story

Hi everyone here is a snippet of my life. My Father died a few months after graduation 1967. Got married in October 1968. My husband & I were working for my parents (remember Tubby Burgers?) when Dad died and we continued working for a few years with my Mom. Then we started selling at the swap meets also had 2 different stores in downtowd Covina J's Stereo and Warehouse Stereo. Divorced in October 1978 but not before I was blessed with my Son Joe born March 31,1973 and my Daughter Julie born March 7, 1975. They were 3 & 5 when their father & I divorced. Went back to work for my Mom . January 16, 1979, I became a Christian. The best decision I have ever made. Tried different jobs, then settled in to selling advertising first for the Penney Saver, then San Gabriel Valley Daily Tribune, Whittier Daily News, Daily Breeze in Torrance, The Herald Examiner (until it closed) and finally went to work for the San Bernardino Sun Newspaper where I worked for 10 years until my health issues (Parkinson Disease)got in my way of doing my job. The past 10 years I have been on permanent disability. My disease and my doctor made the decision for me to stop working, so I fought it (made myself miserable) the first 2 years....However now I call it retirement and love it. LOL Now I bet by now some of you are saying poor Linda....Don't! I am the most blessed person I know! Here are some thoughts about what one might call "major speed bumps in the road of life" Parkinson Disease: 1.Parkinson Disease (PD)is not life threatening. 2.PD progresses different fo...Expand for more
r everyone. 3.My progression has been slow. 4.Laughter makes the heart glad. My life is filled with laughter and joy. Loads of funny stories to tell about PD & me and life. Divorce: 1.I believe in marriage for a lifetime. 2.Divorce is hardest on the children. 3.Divorce happens to good people and bad people alike. 4.Sometimes divorce is necessary. My life like everyone has ups and downs, that is life! Now here comes the best part..life is what you make of it, it is your choice. Sounds so easy...no it's not.....but let's face the facts..it is really up to us....do we want to stay in our comfort zone, which is truly miserable....or do we say what can I learn from this? Or how can I turn this negative into a positive? Change is good..However change for no reason is not good. In my way of thinking and believing, we all need help and my help (and yours too for the asking) comes from My Lord Jesus Christ! I have been attending Covina Assembly of God for over 20 years WOW! Have made some wonderful friends there. I sang in the choir all but the last few years. Hey, I don't have the greatest voice but all that is required is to make a joyful noise, I can do that.LOL I have 3 wonderful and sweet grandkids. Skyler: My son Joe's daughter turned 9 March 3, 2009 Carter: My daughter Julie's son turned 7 March 16, 2009 Devon: My daughter Julie's daughter turned 5 February 27, 2009 Many , many, many stories to tell to fill in the gaps....Look forward to connecting with friends and finding out what they have been and are now up to. God Bless, Linda
