Linda's Story

You can find me and other classmates on Facebook. There are also a few Brunswick High School Classmate pages. I am retired now. I moved back to the Wooster, Ohio area where my 2 daughters and their families live. One daughter just moved north up near Cleveland in Feb. so it is now just my oldest daughter and her family in Wooster. I owned my own business that allowed me to be with my children before and after school, while they were growing up, and could make my own hours. My husband Mark and I were also foster parents for 3 years. It was very rewarding and interesting to say the least. After my youngest daughter graduated, I then decided to go to college, something I wanted to do since high school but the religion I was in frowned on a college education at the time. (I am no longer in any religion, after researching religion for 16 years. I found religion extremely lacking and am now spiritual, and much happier and content.) I absolutely loved college and thrived in the academic setting and winning awards such as Woman of the Year and getting special scholarships and more! I am very proud of working hard and discovering a whole different side of me. I worked in the social work field after getting my degree in social work, and 3 related certifications, as an older student in 2004. (I was divorced in 2002, but continued my studies.) I started out with Boys' Village in Wooster, Ohio. I worked with children who where all sex offenders from ages 12 to 20 for 2 years. It was a very interesting job and I learned a lot! I then found a job in Pepper Pike. Ohio and moved to Cuyahoga Falls. I worked at Beech Brook with children in crisis in a lock down unit in residential care. Everything was done in that unit. The children lived, schooled, played, were counseled, and did all activities in the unit. And yes, they did run, as they do from all of these places. There was an easy way to open the door, even in a lock down unit, if you know how and children in care on and off for many years know these things. It was a really enlightening experience and I loved working with the youth! However, after being injured by one of the children, (Happens a lot!) the company retrained me and I became a Records Specialist. After a year and a half of doing that, they found me to be versatile in doing many things, and transferred me to Secretary I/Records Specialist at another of their branches where the treatment center was for outpatients of these same types of children outside of residential care, and with children in foster care. It was an amazing job and a great company to work for in both places. This last job was on the East Side of Cleveland in the neighborhood where Anthony Sowell murdered all of those women, and we were in a building with guards even before that happened, just a couple streets away from Sowel's house. Not a good neighborhood. Now, that job, too, was an interesting experience for many reasons! I miss the great people I worked with there. After being transferred to Cleveland, I moved to Cleveland because the job was way too far away from Cuyahoga Falls. While living on the West Side, I got to explore all my families past. I was born in Cleveland before moving to Brunswick when I was 18 months old. My mother and father were born there too, along with my older siblings from my parents first marriages, and many other family members had lived there for 3 generations from coming over from Europe. My generation is the fourth. I visited cemeteries of relatives, buildings and ships and shipyards where my father did welding on and worked on in downtown Cleveland, where my father lived, and my mother lived as a child, etc. I have been doing genealogy with my...Expand for more
oldest daughter and we have traced back on her dads side and my side to Biblical times. It has been great fun and a great discovery time to see where our roots came from. There has been some really interesting, odd, funny, and downright amazing discoveries such as be-headings, concubines, kings, queens, knights, lords, and much more. Everyone who can do this, should. And you can do it at your public library free! It is very time consuming though! Lots of research is required. I also found two cousins of mine that I had not seen since the late 60's! Since the last job I retired, and as I said, I am now in Wooster where my daughters were. My ex-husband, Mark, at the age of 54, who still lived in Wooster, who I was still good friends with, passed away a little over March 21, 2011. I was glad I was in Wooster then, so I could be with my daughters during this time. Then Mark's sister passed away just 2 months later at the age or 56. I November of 2012, the youngest in the family past away a the age of 49. The times have been trying for us all, but we are getting through it all somehow. My one adult nephew passed away from a car accident leaving 2 small boys in Jan. of 2014. Six months later my one brother got pancreatic cancer and just passed away June 19th, 2015. Along with those things other family dynamics change too. One thing we all know by now is that things never do stay the same, even when we want them too. A good number of good things have happened also. Nothing is all bad. I now have two kitties that I love. My grandchildren are all happy in their lives, and my first great-granddaughter was born in April this year, '16 making my son a grandfather. He has 3 other children, two I have never met but on FB who are 24 and 25. and one whose mother will never be allowing me to see again. The last time I did see him was at Mark's funeral. He is now 10. I am now doing a lot of research online about things that interest me, besides genealogy, and thinking about delving back into my art that I haven't done since high school. I was pretty good at it! I received an award at the ONeil's Art Show they had each year in Akron. I should have maybe majored in art instead of taking a filler course in my senior year. Who knew? I am searching to see if there are any art classes I can afford to take around this area. I am also thinking about writing a few books that have been in my head my whole life. So, that is a tiny piece and most recent part of my life. lin d y _ 3333a t  y a hood ot c  o m<<<Just slide that all together! Drop out an of the " " that might appear. How did all the years go by so quickly?? We just had our 50th class reunion! I do not feel that old!! However, I do recall when I was 15, that I thought 30 years of age was ancient, and now all my kids are older than that! :) I have been in Wooster now for 7 years. I am still single and having a good time being around my daughters and my grandchildren from them. My son now lives in NC. So much happens in a year. Learning new things, developing new friendships, some are online friends too far away to be anything else, and renewing old relationships with friends not seen in years. Going to flea markets and resale shops, and exploring many other new places. I am thinking about going back to college or maybe taking some other type of classes. Or maybe it is time to write the books in my head! Time will tell. Life goes on and nothing stays the same. :) I hope everyone from our class is doing well and lives are going smoothly. For what troubles and sorrow you have, I hope you find peace and comfort. Life is full of ups and downs. I hope over time we all have had more ups than downs.

In a so-called "Christian nation," with around 74% saying they are so, THERE SHOULD BE NO ONE.......killing their brothers and sisters with guns, or with disease. "LOVE one another as I have loved you. " Jesus gave his LIFE

Never play mindlessly with fire. You can set a field on fire in seconds.

When we lived on Forest Dr. in Hinckley when I was growing up, I used to love to go out and burn the trash. My brother Paul used to fight me for it.

Good night, sweet dreams, sleep well...
And especially so if it is constructive criticism. No one knows it all. Even when you think you might, you don't!
Why is it that across this country, and even the world, EVERYONE speaks for God, but God??? God must have multiple personalities because all speaking for Him seem to be saying very different things!!
