Lynda's Story

May 30, 2016 Happy Memorial Day! Remembering all who have kept our nation free. I have moved into my new manufactured home this month. Still unpacking. Love it here. Can't wait for our 1966 Class Reunion June 10th. Can you believe it!!! Hope to see everyone there!!!! December 31, 2010 Happy New Year everyone!!!! Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! On December 4th I sat for my CPC (Certified Professional Coder) exam. That crazy test was 5 hours and 40 minutes long. And I passed!! Wahoo!!! Now just one more class to complete in January and I am finished. Wishing each and everyone of you a fantastic New Year. Hope to see you at the reunion this year. September 16, 2010 I have been going to school, once again, since January. I am taking courses to become a Medical Biller and Coder. The beginning of this month I sat for my first certification exam and passed! I now have my first certification which is Billing and Coding Specialist. I am now taking my coding class and will sit for that exam at the end of this year. Then after passing that one I will be looking for a new career in the medical field. I have really enjoyed going back to school and have been learning a lot. I am still keeping up with some of my "old" South High friends and it is a blast! July 26, 2009 I am in Omaha now and almost settled into my new home. I am living in a 3 bedroom, manufactured house in the most beautiful park. I love it here. After the heat of Texas this unusually cool July in Omaha was felt great. I haven't even used my ac, except for one day, since I have been here!! I left Dallas on July 15th and arrived the same day. I have been spending the past 1-1/2 weeks unpacking and getting settled. I had dinner with Polly (Feuquay) Chandler last Thursday. It was wonderful to catch up with her. Meeting other friends this coming week for dinner too. I have met several of my neighbors and they all seem very nice. My two cats didn't like the day of being on the road, but lived to meow about it! They are starting to get used to their new home. I would love to hear from my friends from the class of 1966. June 14, 2009 More updates. I was in Florence, OR during the month of May to be with my mom, Mary Jane Stelma. She passed away on May 15th. I stayed to take care of her affairs etc. Now I am back in Dallas, preparing to move back to Omaha! Now that I have made that decision I am very excited about my new adventure in my life! It will be wonderful to be near most of my family again and especially my son, Robert. Besides I have been in Texas for 29 years to this exact date. It is time to move on. I will be headed to Nebraska mid-July. January 30, 2009 Things have certainly changed since my last writing. Estech Systems had a large layoff on November 5, 2008 and I was a product of the layoff. I am still looking for a job. If anyone knows of openings in Omaha I am certainly willing to relocate. My life at the moment is consumed with finding a job. My background is in Documentation Configuration Management, also purchasing, and apartment leasing/management. These are rough and rather scary times. The Dallas area still is continuing to layoff people, as is the rest of the country. But I am hanging in there. I also am finding time for some things that I don't normally find time for when working. As I am sure a lot of people are saying, why now? May 11, 2008 Time marches on. I am still working at Est...Expand for more
ech Systems, which is located in Plano, TX. I celebrate 10 years with the company in August. I just finished taking a Training and Development certificate series at one of the community colleges. Hope to start doing training at work. In addition to being the Doc. Control Mgr, I am now assisting in HR, which I thorougly enjoy. I am going to Arkansas then Nebraska in June/July this year. Hope to see freiends and relatives. Then to Florence, Oregon for two weeks in August to visit my mom. I am still teaching Sunday School. This is my 11th year. I teach 3rd and 4th grade girls now. Our church has been building a new building and we will have our first service in the new site on May 18th. Everyone is getting excited about that. Hope everyone is doing great and would love to hear from people from the class of 1966. Have a great summer!! June 30, 2007 It has been almost a year since our reunion. That was such a blast seeing people that I had seen in years. It has been great keeping in contact with some of my friends from high school since then. It was nice to be back in Omaha. I just can't believe how the city is growing. It changes every time I go back. While I was in Nebraska I spent several days in Aurora visiting my son. I was in Florence, Oregon again to visit my mom this May. I was there for two weeks. The weather was just gorgeous and only rained for 2 days. Florence is on the coast and is such a beautiful town. I even found time to do some sightseeing this trip which was a lot of fun. Hope to hear from some of you. April 8, 2006 It has been April 2005 since I have updated this. Not much new has transpired with me personally, but I am planning on being at the 40th 1966 Class Reunion. Can you believe it has been 40 years..I can't. I still feel 17! Well, maybe 34. I am so excited to see everyone. Just received my ticket for the dance July 14th. That is 2 days after my birthday, so that will be my celebration. I have made contact with a few fellow classmates and have heard back from them. This has been fun. I am planning on driving from Dallas to Omaha on the 13th of July. I will be in Nebraska for about a week. Looking forward to seeing all of you at the reunion! The following was from April 23, 2005 Much has transpired since graduation from South High in 1966. Seems just like yesterday, doesn't it?! I have one son, Robert Todd Davis. He is 37 and living in Aurora, Nebraska. I went to the University of Nebraska at Omaha when it was stilled called OU. Then went to University of Illinois. Lived in Chicago for three years. Had lived in Fairfield, California prior to that. Back to Omaha, then Chicago, on to Sunnymead, California. From there I was transferred with the company I worked for to McMinnville, Oregon. I was the production manager there. Then they transferred me to the plant in Arlington, TX 24 years ago. That is how I ended up in Dallas, Texas. I went back to school. Got a degree in drafting and design. Then went to work in that field. Got into management....again. I swore I was giving the middle management gig up, but didn't happen. Have spent the past several years going into companies and setting up their drafting and documentation departments. I am working for a telecommunications company now as the Documentent Control Manager. I love riding motorcycles, camping, hiking, and I read like a fiend. Also enjoy just being home and watching movies.
