Linda's Story

Linda Stern Sorrell lives in a converted barn that was also her early childhood home at High Hollow Farm between Johnson City and Jonesborough. Here at Barnegie Hall, she gives guitar, piano, and accordion lessons. She enjoys her organic gardens and nature as much as the cats, horses, and dogs. She enjoys writing ballads, poems, and short stories about and for her family. Her husband, Charlie, has enough Toyota Supras to be SupraMan. He is retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a quality process engineer for Philips Consumer Electronics. High Hollow is also home to her stepson and daughter-in-law. Linda and Charlie have two daughters. Charlie and Linda care for their granddaughter when her parents are both working. Many friends and relatives have made High Hollow their home when they needed a piece of Heaven on Earth. Tragically, on April 13, 2002, Linda and Charlie's beloved foster son, Jamez Norwood, was murdered at ETSU. Many a night family, friends, and students gather around the campfire area roasting hotdogs and s'mores. Instruments and voices join in for jammin' times. Linda and Charlie have been leaders in local service organizations, such as co-presidents of the University School PTSA and the Washington County 4-H Horse Project. They are active in the United Religions Initiative, a network of relationships based on mutual respect a...Expand for more
