Fellow Classmates: It's been almost 44 years since we graduated. I recently suffered the loss of a beloved dog. Joanie was the last of three which were a part of my family for the past decade. We laid her down in Seattle, where my son resides, mainly because I was headed over there for a short vacation over Mother's Day and didn't want to leave her home with the spouse and mother-in-law. Needless to say, this was not an extremely joyous ocassion. It did, however, inspire me to search for my high school year books and this past weekend was spent going through each year. There were lots of memories; some good, some not so good. I guess high school wasn't as bad as I thought it was. There is one thing however that stood out in my mind and made me put my loss in perspective. Craig Hines. He had barely graduated when he passed away. I remember him as a nice guy. At the time, I felt some sorrow but quickly put it aside in order to get on with life. Craig never got to go through the ups and downs of the past 44 years and I am grateful and humbled that I have had those years. As I looked at the various answers we each gave as to what our future plans and aspirations were, I wonder how many were fullfilled. I married at 19, had a baby at 23 and was divorced the same year. Went on to Edmonds CC and obtained an ATA in Office Admin and one-year legal certificate; While in college I participated in everythng I could and enjoyed myself thoroughly (that's because I had a car and freedom). However, getting involved with the student government introduced me to some nefarious characters and I must admit to backsliding for awhile anyway. I met husband #2 wh...Expand for more
