Linda's Story
Life
I left Arlington High the beginning of jr. yr. I married in 1961. Had four children, 3 boys & 1 girl. At 35 obtained my GED and went to college, studied accounting. I was asked to work for my teacher who was the Wheeling Township School Treasurer. I worked for him for over 7 yrs. and then moved out of town. I went back to school and became a certified ceramic teacher. I opened my own business teaching & selling finished pcs. That led me to glass engraving. I am one of two people that the company I learned from allows to teach under their name. I've taught with Dan Fenton of Fenton glass and travel the country teaching. I then found an interest in the embroidery field and went back to school again. I am now a member of the Embroidery Trade association. My children are married. I have five grandchildren, 3 boys & 2 girls, ages 12-15. I have been marri...Expand for more
ed 46 yrs. to the same person who has recently retired from the printing trade. We built a new house in SC. to retire in and are really enjoying it. Our daughter and 3 grandkids live just 2 miles away.This was edited in Aug. 2007. It's 2012 now. Still live in SC. 3 of 5 grandkids in college. I've had rotator cuff surgery and a knee replacement. My husband just had triple bypass surgery and is doing well.
Workplace
I worked as the office mgr. for the Wheeling township school treas. I am an accountant and now own my own business doing corporate logo embroidery and teaching ceramics, porcelain dolls and glass engraving. The name of my business is Artistic Creations. I have spent several hours-years taking classes to do all that I do. I love my work and hope to continue it the rest of my life. Not working now but enjoy all that I did working as a hobby now.
