Linda's Story

I live in Scottsdale, Arizona now. I went to Texas Tech, then to Houston, then 19 years ago, I moved to Arizona. I have three daughters and three grandchildren. They are all 3 graduated from college (SMU, Unversity of Arizona and Arizona State University) the oldest is a manager for Deloitte, Touche in Houston, the middle daughter is an attorney and my youngest works for Bank of America, and they are all back in Houston. I stayed in Arizona because I just love it here. I was extremely excited to get on this classmates site and find a relative I didn't even know existed. Don Williams is the son of my grandfather's brother. He graduated from Midland High School in 1963. We are second cousins. In October of last year, I started a bridge club in Tempe, Arizona. world wide web(dot)aocbridgeclub(dot)com. (for some reason, I am unable to include my website, so hopefully you can figure it out. You can do a Google search for Ace of Clubs Tempe and find it if the above does not work. You have to desipher it.) I have had so much fun watching it grow. It is alot of work but the perfect job for me because I get to be around my friends. I have been playing tournament bridge for 30 years and this move was a natural for me. On my website, you can see pictures of the club, and me. I had retired for about 3 years and just didn't think I had accomplished what I had hoped and opened this bridge club. e to ever retire again now. But it is ok. I love what I am doing. My newest passion is the website I created myself. I didn't know anything about them but now update it almost daily. I have lived in my home in Scottsdale for 19 years now but have made a decision to move closer to my bridge club and am in the process of purchasing a home in Tempe, 2 minutes away. I moved to Houston after college to be where my parents were transferred with Texaco (now Chevron Texaco), and shortly after I got there, they moved, first to New Orleans, then to Lagos, Nigeria, then to London, England, then to New York City (Darien, Connecticut) and then back to N.O. where they retired. And I stayed. They are both gone now and I miss them terribly. But life goes on. And here we are, all turning 60 or so and thinking about our childhood. My memories of Midland, where I grew up, are among my finest. What a great place to grow up. I feel I was a little sheltered there and a little unprepared for the real world. Growing up in Midland is a little like growing up in Camelot must have been. I remember the beautiful blue skies, the dances at the "Youth Center", the football games, the sunshine, the beautiful clear starry nights, the dates, the fun, the band, the innocense of youth, the friendships, some of which have lasted my whole life. Thank you, my peers, for the memories. Your friend always, Linda (Williams) Green Class of '66
