Linda's Story
I was born in El Paso, Texas, but lived all over the Southern MidWest & SouthEast while growing up.. My schools include multiple elementary schools across Texas, Oklahoma, South Carolina & North Carolina. I attended Brunson Dargan Junior High & St. John High in Darlington, SC, before moving to Baton Rouge with my family & graduating from Tara High School. I was a Trainee for 2 years in a Bible Apprenticeship Program at Precept Ministries in Chattanooga, TN, where I earned college credit through Columbia Bible College in Columbia, SC. I then moved to Columbia & continued studies at Columbia Bible College (now known as Columbia International University). My fiancé, whom I met in Chattanooga on the Training Program, joined me in college & we married in 1984.
My husband & I had a son, born in 1986 & in 1987 we moved back to Chattanooga, TN. There we welcomed 2 daughters, one in 1989 & the last in 1992. I was divorced in 2014. I have 6 grandchildren & 6 step grandchildren between my 3 children & their spouses. My family is my greatest joy!
I have done electrical, plumbing, carpentry & furniture building throughout my adulthood, including completing projects for friends & family. I owned a Curves For Women Exercise Club at one time. After the divorce, I earned my CDL & became an OTR Truck Driver. I’ve had some experience hauling Tankers, Dry/Box Vans & Reefers. I briefly worked on a Microsurfacing Support Crew driving a straight truck, which supplied a Paver Machine to resurface roads. Due to an injury which prevented me...Expand for more
from continuing to drive tankers, at one point I moved back to Darlington for 18 months & was hired to work as an Assistant Clerk of Court for the City. I moved back to Chattanooga in February, 2017. The most recent job was driving OTR for a company based in North Dakota, though Chattanooga is my home. I was seriously injured from a fall in August, 2018, & am still seeking/receiving medical treatment, due to a long battle with Worker’s Comp. I hope to be able to go back to trucking when recovery is complete.
Music I like includes most Christian music artists, particularly of contemporary & praise/worship genres. I greatly enjoy music from the 50s, 60s & 70s. Movies I like include Braveheart, Titanic, Spider-Man, The Blind Side, & many more. TV shows I like include M*A*S*H, Star Trek, Law & Order SVU, Chicago PD, etc.
I had 2 family dogs on the truck with me on the last job, which gave some company! I have one of them who lives with me still.
My son & daughter in law live in Southern California, but both daughters & sons in law are closeby in Chattanooga. My grandchildren range in age from soon to be 15 down to 3 months. And the step grandchildren range from 16 to 6 1/2.
A strong faith in Jesus Christ has always been important to me & I seek to know God to make Him known. I enjoy sharing about God’s unfailing love, unfathomable mercy & never ending grace. During all the traumatic & extremely difficult times in life, God comforted, healed, provided for & carried me through. He is my life, my source of strength & my safety!
