Linda's Story
Life
My name before marriage was Linda Clay.After graduation I started working at the Veterens Admin. I married three years after high school. I have two wonderful kids.After my divorce, I started as a driver for the CTA in 1977,and went into supervision in 1997. I'm proud to say that after 27yrs.,of driving through ice and snow,driving hot buses, standing on hot corners and trying to find air conditioned buildings, in the summer as a supervisor, I retired,(LOL). I enjoyed every bit of the time I spent with CTA, and also the co-workers that I had the pleasure to meet,and work with. 10 years ago I married a wonderful man named John and during our retirement we plan to do all the thing that we couldn't do before, (GOD willing),like travel, spend more time with m...Expand for more
y grandkids, go walking, read more and cook. As I use to say as a supervisor, when my day was over, control, I'm 10-7.
School
I STARTED AT HIRSCH AFTER GRADUATION FROM DIXON ELEMENTRY SCHOOL. DURING MY TIME AT HIRSCH I WAS VERY LOW KEY BUT KNEW MANY PEOPLE. I WAS IN THE JR.CHOIR, TOOK FRENCH AND LOVED THE FRENCH TEACHERS MS REED AND MS COLLINS. I SOMETIMES SEE MS. REED AT THE YMCA ON 63RD. AND STONY ISLAND. WHEN I LAST SAW HER SHE STILL LOOK THE SAME, SHE HASN'T CHANGED SINCE HIGH SCHOOL. MY BEST FRIENDS WERE SHERIDA COBBS, CARYN WEBB AND VERNITA COOKS. ANOTHER FRIEND, WHO I'V KNOWN SINCE 6TH GRADE,IS MILTON BYRD. I HAVE TWO WONDERFUL CHILDRED, AND 7 GRANDKIDS,AND 2 GREAT GRAND SONS. I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT REUNION. I DON'T WANT TO MISS ANOTHER ONE.
